I am so impressed with this Garmin Portable Friction Mount!!! I have used it in multiple vehicles, Mini Cooper, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Toyota pickup. It has stayed in place in each of these vehicles; doesn't move when making sharp turns, hitting the brakes, etc. It's easy to move from vehicle to vehicle, or simply to hide it while your Garmin is attached. It doesn't leave any marks, just set it down where you want it and you're good to go! I have a friend that has a window mount but when he takes it down, there is a circle on his windshield from the suction cup mount. I would highly recommend this!!

I'm using this as the base for my magnet mount phone holder. I've purchased a Nekteck magnetic mount with the rectangular head (https://smile.amazon.com/Nekteck-Magnetic-Cradle-less-Universal-Samsung/dp/B014QKBEHM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1481745867&sr=8-3&keywords=nekteck+car+mount), then pulled the head off and put it on this base. Voila! A magnetic car mount that doesn't block the air vent, doesn't require a heavy-duty adhesive on the dash, and won't tear up my CD slot. What's more, it's easy to throw under a seat or into the glove box if I need to hide it away. Perfect for how I use my phone for navigation and listening to Spotify over Bluetooth.

I have a Prius, with a steep sloping windshield and a textured sloping dashboard. The regular suction holder that came with my Garmin would not work at all on the dash, and even though I could make it work on the windshield, then I couldn't reach it to push buttons. It also had the downside of needing to leave the mount on the windshield, thus advertising the fact that I had the Garmin in the vehicle. This friction mount is ridiculously easy to use and when I'm not in the car I can easily put it inside the central console with the unit, and then very easily get both out again when I need them. It never slips and can be placed just where I want it for easy access. I'm thrilled with this purchase.

My only note to make about this mount is that if your gps doesn't have a suction cup to attach to the back of the unit, you will need to get one, as this came with everything but that. When I got this I then had to go look for the suction cup that allows you to slide it into the ball, and then mount it on the back of my gps. Otherwise, this unit stays in place better than the other mount I had purchased previously.

The suction cup I had to purchase looks like this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DQN3RG2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So while this works as it should, it gets 4 stars because it was missing the suction cup for the gps itself.

I've had a Garmin for work purposes for 6 years now and have gone through several suction cups. Eventually, their life comes to an end and the GPS falls onto the dashboard, scaring the person driving and anyone in the car. I was hesistant about this purchase but it really is amazing. The mount is weighted with sand and can easily be moved to another vehicle or taken down. Best part of all, the Garmin sits securely in place as it should. Now if only we could get Garmin to start packaging these babies along with the navigation unit!

The concept may be great, but the ball where the GPS attaches is too small for for my GPS, causing the screen to flop down to face the floor. I measure the diameter of my window mount ball and the one that came with the friction mount. My window mount measures 17.21 mm. The friction mount ball measures 16.56 mm. That is nearly 0.75 mm difference it may not sound like a lot, but is the difference between a screed that stays where you point its where you point it or points at the floor after a few seconds of driving. I have only read about a couple customers with a similar issue so I assume it is not widespread, or people are way more tolerant than I am.

Because I remove my Garmin GPS from sight when I park the car (to discourage thieves) this beanbag mount is the perfect solution. I can just pick it up off the dashboard and hide it in the cargo box next to the seat.

My particular model of Garmin GPS Garmin nüvi 55LMT GPS is difficult and inconvenient to remove from the windshield suction cup mount because the ball snaps in tightly and doesn't easily release. This beanbag solves the problem.

Like any beanbag mount it's a little ugly but it is a neutral gray color and really fits in fine with any décor. The ball mount conveniently swivels and even locks into position. My dashboard is textured and the beanbag stays secure even when cornering or making a fast deceleration. I don't know how it would work on a smooth dashboard, but it works perfectly fine for me.

Counterfeit Product. Likely a fake. Ball is too small. Requires tissue be shoved in hole or Garmin GPS tilts forward. Lock function didn't work so put cardboard under the thumb lever. Spring is thin and way too short. That worked awhile. Threads on turn mechanism are cut too thin to catch firmly. It would be very surprising if Garmin made such a poorly functioning and defective product.

I bought this because the suction cup that comes with the GPS doesn't hold up over time and no longer sticks to my windshield. This was a great solution, however, the stem that is used to attach GPS to is on a very loose pivot. So in normal driving/turning, the GPS pivots around and can go out of sight. Yes, I can just swing it back into view, but it isn't convenient. This is better than the previous suction cup falling off the windshield while driving and startiling the bejesus out of me though. haha

A very nice mount for temporary conditions. The mount is heavy enough that it does not slide on surface. I added a non-slip rug pad (black) and the system is very steady.

While driving the mount does shake somewhat and so the display screen isn't that steady. I prefer the suction mount as it is rock solid.

I am happy with this mount and will be useful in temporary vehicles or RV's.

One problem encountered however. The ball on this mount stem was .4mm smaller in diameter than the ball that is attached to the suction mount. As a result, the Garmin RV760LMT kept drooping at the socket. I called Garmin customer service, explained the problem and they shipped me another stem/ball piece. That one is working just fine. Seems the original piece that I had was manufactured incorrectly or was a defect in the molding process. All is working just fine now.
