Let me say firstly, I love this author I have read all her books. I also loved the first book in this series, and have already preordered the next in this series. Having said that, this was just not as great as I had hoped. I'm a little tired of the man whore see's a girl and has to have her resulting in instant love. I always wonder when the relationship gets old, and it will is he going to cheat. I had a really hard time with the illness aspect of the book. I probably sound shallow but I read to escape I just don't want the reality of sickness to get in the way of reading. And I just cant believe a college graduate would not no what an oncologist is. I know that's a bit nitpicky of me, but with as much cancer awareness around. I just can't believe it. I also can't imagine going through all that treatment and being that sick while having all the sex. Everyone I know who has had cancer treatment has been so sick. I guess that is why the whole cancer aspect bothered me so bad with the steamy sex. I was just thinking does she feel ok. I would definitely still tell someone to read this book, you might like it.

Sometimes a story just speaks to you. From page one, it sucks you in and won’t release you until you’ve finished the last chapter. Through all the ups and downs, it just speaks to your heart and you feel like you know the characters. For me, that book was Garrett. It was such a bewitching blend of sexy dirty talking with beautiful heart and soul. I loved that I felt every emotion while reading Garrett; I laughed, I cried multiple times, I swooned over Garrett’s sweetness and his dirty mouth. This book is an amazing love story that will make you appreciate life, love, and the people you surround yourself with.

I love when my hero isn’t a tortured as$ and Garrett was a perfect blend of cocky as$ and sincere gentleman. He has a known rep for being “The King of the one night stand” but it’s not because he’s deeply disturbed or anything… he’s just a guy sowing his wild oats, who hasn’t met “the one” who would have made him settle down. He’s funny, he’s flirty, and he’s wickedly good-looking. When he sees Olivia for the first time, he’s smitten. It wasn’t insta-love and I applaud Sawyer for not making him seem over the top in love right off the bat. I liked the flirty banter and watching them get to know each other.

Olivia was refreshing as our heroine. She’s flirty, funny, driven, and easy-going but she’s got a lot on her plate. So much so, she just wants to live and be free and enjoy life without worrying about consequences. So when Garrett hits on her, at first she declines him because she just can’t imagine getting involved with anyone, let alone a player like Garrett. But as her new reality sets in, she decides to let herself live… to enjoy the delicious man with his cheesy pickup lines.

This is the 9th Sawyer Bennett book I've read, and while it was good, I don't think it's one of her best. Maybe I have manwhore fatigue. It's becoming a tired storyline: the manwhore who takes one look at a woman and it changes him for good. The book opens with Garrett in bed the morning after a threesome, and he can't remember the names of the two women. Yuck. Then he meets Olivia at a party and he's a changed man? I liked them together (and I really liked Olivia), but it was such a rushed relationship. Even when the conflict comes near the end, they had only been dating for six weeks. That's barely a blip in time. And it really annoyed me that Garrett was pissed at Alex and Sutton for not believing he had changed. You've been a manwhore since they've met you and you've only been dating Olivia for a few days, what did you expect? And then he makes them grovel for forgiveness? Um, no.

The best parts of the book for me were the parts with Olivia and her medical issues. She was both vulnerable and strong at times, and it came across as realistic.

I'm sorry! Im going against the tide here. This book annoyed me. I love Sawyer Bennett. I own all her books and I stalk her page to keep up with her releases. I was soooooo excited for this book. Now, not so much. The book just dragged, the sex was mediocre and the plot was too predictable. This should have been a novella. I really don't want to give away the plot, so stop reading this review now, if you don't want any spoilers. The H is a hockey player who plays the field. The h has a potentially fatal disease. There is a death and the book just spirals down into cliche. I forced myself to finish this book because of my loyalty to the author. But please...... Not another one like this!

I'm kind of torn on this one. I didn't hate the book but I didn't really enjoy the book either. From the get go he was doing that stereotypical sleep with them one night and then throw them away and then you end up with the stereotype of the woman he wants to pound into oblivion and he (apparently) quickly falls for her. And I mean seriously that's kind of the extent of the relationship. And then cancer is thrown in. I liked reading about Stevie one of the ancillary characters more than I liked reading about our main characters honestly. But even with the cancer and interesting friend the entire book just felt cliche (even for a romance novel). It wasn't poorly written or anything it just wasn't that good of a story.
