Gary Martin was born in Phenix City, Alabama, but moved to Baltimore, Maryland when he was just a toddler. At age seven he went to the hospital for a tonsillectomy. It was supposed to be routine, but something went wrong. His heart stopped for three and a half minutes before the doctors got it started again. He was in the hospital for three months. During that time his mom would bring him comic books to help to pass the time. That started his love of reading and later writing.
He moved back to Phenix City with his family and attended Smith Station high school. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force. He was assigned to the medical squadron.
Later he was sent to Misawa, Japan where he spent two and a half years. He learned the language somewhat and even took karate lessons in the Shotokan style. He earned a first degree black belt before leaving. Through a Japanese friend he was able to travel extensively throughout Japan.
He has spent most of his working life doing electrical work, but his heart has always been on writing.
My goal now is to be a successful novelist. Nexus was my first book. It was quite a learning experience when it came to publishing it. Expect to se a lot of me.
