- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2023This is an amazing workbook to use with clients. I don't generally like using workbooks but this is one I recommend all the time. I have seen real tangible changes in people who go through it. Some people find it a bit repetitive but it is set up that way to reinforce what it is teaching and create positive changes.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2025Such a good workbook! Take your time with it. Some sections deserve multiple visits since our perspectives change as we grow and heal. I highly recommend it!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2021This book has empowered me. I suspected my recent ex gaslighted me but it turns out so did my first abusive ex and my bullies. Being able to understand what it was and know they were all liars, was empowering. I couldn’t get my head right for a while. After reading the first couple chapters, I felt something break in a good way. I nearly cried in relief. I suddenly could sleep. I could name their lies and take the power out of them. I realize there is NOTHING wrong with me. It was them. This has changed my confidence, given me my hope back, help me find myself again. Thank you so much to the author. I bought a copy for another person who needed it. I will keep trying to raise awareness and get people (men and women) to recognize they are being gaslighted. Now, I’m about to conquer the world!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2024This workbook has been a great tool for validating being gaslit. The book has very good examples of what gaslighting can be. I am glad I bought it. I would've given it a 5 but when I first opened the book the first 2 pages fell out from the binding.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2021I recently told my psychologist that I had this book for over a year or more and never really dug deep into it. I'm not on chapter 5 to 6 and it's been very impactful to personalize my experience with emotional abuse from family members and trauma that has been gaslighted towards me. The book is also based into trauma near the end, it teaches you in a non-binary way (which I love the thought inclusivity) about trauma, self-esteem, assertiveness and how gaslighting can diminish a lot of these things. This book has helped me and I planned to share all of the stuff in it with my psychologist to open up some conversations. As a psychology student/major, I could see myself recommending this book to future people in my life who made need it to clients.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2023The questions help someone like me understand that abuse is what someone learns to put up with. For the years I’ve lived the words gaslight weren’t in my vocabulary and since I’m not a doctor narcissism I thought was just being vain, not so much a disorder. It’s pretty sad sometimes after years of being around those sorts of people coping gets harder. They were all I had. I’m grateful to learn how to put the pieces of myself together. It is at least an hour a day it can get upsetting but like so many others say it’s eye opening.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2020This workbook was recommended by a therapist friend who has used it for people dealing with Gaslighting and other emotional abuse/narcissist relationships. It focuses not only on the actions of the other party, but in finding out what attracted you to the relationship in the first place and why, as many people struggle with after, you allowed yourself to get in the position you did in the first place. It's not victim blaming in any way, but it does suggest strategies for dealing with people that have these tendencies whether it be a romantic, family, or work relationship and helps you to recognize the behaviors that could signal that these dynamics are at play. It's helped me with the toughest part, coming to terms with your own participation.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2022This was a useful book and as I started into it, it did have a couple of items that were helpful, but like most of these recovery workbooks, the author focuses on gaslighting and narcissism as it relates to or is used in a romantic relationship. There are so many other types of gaslighting relationships and not every proposed solution fits the issue. I couldn't get through it. So, I cannot recommend NOR NOT recommend it to anyone. It may work well for your depending on your circumstances. So, if you are being abused emotionally and/or mentally, this book may be very helpful to you.
