Does she understand gay male romance? That is a question you’ll never ask after reading this steamy book – a book that combines sports and men’s diversions – and sexual attraction and action.
This is the fifth novel in her series Low Blow and the story is so well mounted that it is unnecessary to have read Book 1 to get into this story. Almost with the first words Charity has upped the interest in the erotica of her story: ‘Slip was packed. That wasn’t unusual for a Friday night, but after the wretched day Sean had, he was over it. Nothing life altering had happened. It was more a culmination of bull. He’d woken up to a flat tire, making him late for class. That girl who sat two rows in front of him, the one who never shut up, had asked so many questions that his last class had spilled over. He’d been fifteen minutes late to work. Since he hadn’t had time to run home and grab his “Slip” T-shirt, the manager had yelled at him, given him a new shirt, and promised it would come out of Sean’s check. More money he couldn’t afford to lose. Thankfully, his section was overflowing with customers. Since he’d been informed that table seven, the one with a group of four men, had been waiting the longest, Sean tied his apron around his waist and headed their way. Despite his day and the even worse manager, Sean loved working for Slip. The owners, Boston and Kaz, were amazing. Without them, he wouldn’t see a single hint of light at the end of the tunnel of his dark life. They paid his high-dollar tuition at a culinary school people fought to attend. He’d only been forced to sign over his life to Slip for the next few years. Sean didn’t mind. He’d given more for less before. At the edge of table seven, Sean automatically chose the most open spot to lean across and set cocktail napkins in front of each man. “What can I get you?” The man to his left turned in his seat. His dark eyes were sweet. They captured Sean, holding him hostage. “If I could get your phone number, I won’t ask for more, and I promise to leave a huge tip.” Sean’s smile was out of his control. Maybe the night wasn’t a complete loss? Even better, maybe he didn’t look as horrible as he felt.’
As this plot goes, ‘He’s a player. Everyone knows it. Except Sean isn’t a game to him. Mateo has been the biggest contender for the Super Lightweight title for over two years. No matter how hard he works, he can’t seem to beat the current champ. Since boxing is all he has in the world, it’s an issue. His confidence is in the can, and his social life is non-existent. Mateo has had no real friends or relationships that have lasted longer than one night in years. That is, until he meets a man whose beautiful heart leaves him mystified. Rescuing a drunk from the parking lot of his workplace, Slip, isn’t a new thing for Sean. People leave the bar and grill plastered and intent on driving all the time. Usually, Sean calls them a cab and sends them on their way. Mateo is the first one he’s ever taken home. There’s something sad about Mateo. Sean lost all his friends years ago, and he sees a kindred spirit in the sexy boxer. It’s easier than he ever dreams to consider the man his best friend in no time at all. Except he’s not. Mateo is so much more. It’ll take the purest heart to save a broken man from a hellish life. Unfortunately, when it comes to Mateo and Sean, it’s hard to know who needs rescuing the most.’

I just love Mateo and him and Sean are just perfect together. Both a bit broken inside and doing everything to make the other one happy. They give me warm and fuzzy feelings and I read the whole book straight through.
