We bought four of these off the shelf at Walmart for $289 each and used them mostly for email and office work but tried one to watch Netflix on a TV or to monitor our networked surveillance cameras. The entry-level processor and embedded graphics are too slow to watch Netflix (an included app) - even on a 30 megabit cable connection. Way too slow and choppy. Installing Blue Iris Pro surveillance software and monitoring four cameras brought this machine to a complete crawl (an easy task for my old Dell laptop running XP). On its first day, the surveillance computer's graphics began showing odd remnants of previously viewed images: We could still see the Windows 8 start page in the background of the red Netflix startup. That one went back to Walmart. The office computer, which was only used for Quickbooks, had a failed hard drive on day 28 - after Walmart's 15-day return interval. It's under warranty with Acer and on its way to a repair facility in Texas. Lesson: Spend a little extra and buy a more reliable brand than Gateway/Acer/eMachine.

1. Straight out of the box it would shut down and not start back up. After finally coaxing it to start up we have battled it 2 1/2 years. (I wanted to give it a fare chance before saying it was junk.) The past 6 months have been shut down completely. 2. Nextflix and downloads are so slow and some never load completely. 3. This version of Windows 8 has no apps. (I truly mean NONE. There are desktop icons, but no programs or download to run any of the icons. You have to find and download apps for everything from typing and printing a simple list out to a video player) I spent many hours trying to get a good free one that actually worked with Windows 8. And they of course are downloads...see problem 2. The windows 8 operating system on this PC is so difficult to figure out and I think it's because you have to find your own "compatable" apps and hope they like the computer and each other. If your looking for something to play kids games on or watch TV programs, pick something else. This one just got sent back to cash in the warranty and purchase something else more operator friendly that can actually handle a download with out crashing.

Purchased the Gateway SX2110G-UW23 to replace my 8 year old Pentium 4, 3.8GHz based machine running Windows 7. Near no improvement in performance even running with Windows 8 although it is a good quality built machine. The AMD E-1500 chip is not enough power and a bit sluggish.

The build quality is decent enough, and the system works just fine. That being said, the CPU (AMD E1-1500) that the computer comes with is too weak to handle anything more demanding than MS Office. I tried to upgrade this computer to Windows 10, but I'm downgrading it back to Windows 8, since 10 runs too slow on this computer. I wonder if I can find a mini-ITX motherboard that will fit into this computer; 6GB of RAM and 500GB of hard drive is more than enough for me.

Very nice compact desktop pc. We are still getting use to windows 8.1 and are somewhat disapointed that our existing printer and scanner does not work with Windows 8.1. Oh well guess it's time to upgrade some more. Microstft doesn't leave much of a choice as they ars stopping their updates on older systems in april of 2014
