I bought this at BestBuy for $269 on clearance. I have used it as my main machine every day for close to a year- I use Quicken, Outlook 2010 w EXCH, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Skype, Reaper, Wavelab, etc. I recorded a 20 track demo in Reaper at 24/96 with drum plugin, effects, automation- the works- and it handled it without any probs!

NOTES: You must disable wi-fi when recording multitrack audio or you will get glitches. fn/f2 is good enough- no need to disable the adapter etc. I don't know if it was USB issue, ASIO issue or what- but turning off the wireless solves it. Also, I sadly found that Windows Search causes major issues with recording audio and only way I found to solve was to disable/remove search entirely- disabling alone did not work. This is frustrating as Google Desktop still does not work with Outlook 2010.

I upgraded RAM to 2GB- essential- 1GB will not cut it. I later upgraded the hd to a 500GB. All progs run great- Skype is flawless, etc.

NOTE July 2013-
Upgraded to Crucial M4 256GB SSD- WOW- like a new machine. Also upgraded the wireless to an Intel 6235 wireless n/bluetooth card and Win7 Pro x64. I am currenly looking for an 11.6" with backlit keyboard and an i5 CPU but still loving my Gateway and still use it every day. now Crucial has the M500 SSDs and also Seagate has the hybrid SSD hard drives so your options are growing.
/NOTE July 2013-

Battery would not hold a full charge after 9mos or so and support sent me a replacement with zero hassle. I had done all the suggested steps of battery reset etc. prior which did make the process simpler. Replacement came quickly.

Fairly quiet, though it does seem the fan has run on slightly higher setting over time.

I got a good deal from a good seller so overall I am pleased with this netbook.
It is however very slow! For browsing and using Microsoft office it is fine. Anything more demanding and you may get frustrated with it. Good at the right price, would not buy at retail price.

I have been using my LT2104 as my primary computer, over two months. You get what you pay for but once in a while a great value floats to the surface and this Gateway proves it. The audio is pretty bad and as noted by other reviewers the little jewel hardly features leading edge performance but if you can hook one for less than $350 its a steal for rudimentary applications...email, surfing the net, amazon-shopping. Excellent wireless performance and good battery life (getting aroun 5-6 hours). I still hate MicroSoft but Windows-7 doesn't suck too bad so the whole purchase has been positive. Strongly recommended. Volkan Akkurt.

I purchased this tiny little computer before heading off to graduate school, the idea being that it would be used to take notes in class. It has been fantastic for that. It's small and lightweight. I've wound up typing all of my papers on it, with only one complaint: the track pad is hardly separated from the space bar, so sometimes (often at first) I hit the track pad instead of space, which, depending on where my mouse is resting, can cause chaos.
My only other complaint was that the machine comes with Windows 7 Starter. I like Win 7 on our desktop computer, but it's too much for this little one. Win 7 Starter won't let you customize the desktop background, which I didn't like, so I installed Win XP and I have no more complaints. (Though the keyboard is pretty small, if I had big, huge hands I bet it'd be a pain in the ass.)

It's a perfect computer for school: easy to move around, easy access to the Internet, has plenty of memory and all that. Please keep in mind: I just use it to write, work online (play online), Skype with friends back home, and watch movies. It's great for all those things.

I love the size and convenience of this little netbook. It's nice to drop it in my backpack, instead of lugging around a case for my big 17 inch laptop. But size isn't everything.

I upgraded to 2G RAM, which did help the speed. I also find that FIREFOX is a much better browser for this computer than Netscape. But I'm finding the smaller screen a little harder to read. And the smaller keyboard, along with some funky key placement, makes this a poor substitute for a full sized computer when it comes to extensive typing.

One of my major complaints is the location of the power switch. I've accidentally shut down the computer a few times, because the switch is located on the top left corner of the keyboard, in a spot where my thumb naturally rests when holding the unit in my left hand. The battery life is also not quite what I expected. It's been touted to have as much as 11 hours of battery life in some reviews. But in my experience, 6 hours of normal use is about the most you can expect. That's still not too bad. I'm also not thrilled with the multi-function touchpad. It really isn't all that great. The pinch and twist functions are clever, but not all that useful. And the scrollbar is difficult to find in the dark, since it has no raised edge. Scrolling is also a little iffy. I find that too often, I have to use the scrollbar at the edge of the page, because the touchpad scrollbar won't work.

This isn't a bad computer for portability or price. I just wouldn't recommend it as your only computer if you're a heavy user.
