No having a bunch of wires hanging from my machine is great and it just looks beautiful on my desk. Not quite Apple beautiful but pretty damn nice nonetheless. Plus, it's Windows, which I prefer and supports pretty much everything. And if you haven't used Windows 7 yet get ready to fall in love all over again.
I wanted an all-in-one computer so commuting with it from home to college would be simple. I didn't want a laptop because I figured this would last longer and have more memory. Getting this computer around is really easy.
The only gripe I have with the computer is that it doesn't really have enough RAM. I actually had to open up the back of the computer (which is a little worrisome because I'm not an expert, and it voids the warranty if you have one) and install more RAM. Now I have 7GB of RAM, and it runs fantastically. But if you are interested in installing more RAM, it's important to know beforehand that it is NOT a simple task.
The touchscreen aspect is fun at first, but it gets old kind of fast. There is a widget that comes with the computer that you can tap on the top right corner of the screen that has some games and webcam applications that involve the touchscreen function. However, outside of that there are not many practical applications for it. Not to mention you can get things done more quickly and precisely with a keyboard and mouse- and the on-screen keyboard they provide for web browsing is kind of difficult and awkward to use.
The speakers at the bottom are loud enough that I'm not looking into getting external speakers. Sometimes it can be too soft for movies and videos, but if you're looking to fill the room with your music it works just fine. The sound quality is great, too.
The only reason I wont say five stars is, again, because of the RAM. It really was a pain to deal with, and Gateway should probably consider upping their base RAM for their products. They have a lot of appealing new features, but it's hard to show off their full potential without enough RAM. But after that, this computer is well worth it. Highly recommend it and other Gateway products.
