I have been looking for this utility for a while to make a traditional dish. Despite the mixed reviews, decided to give it a shot. I followed below tips that made this an easy to use and get the desired outcome to make "sevai"(string hopper)
1) Prior to first time use,I washed all the parts nicely with dish soap and warm-hot water(used gloves since the parts were brass and mildly sharp edges). This also removed any grey or black powdery coating on brass surface.
2) air dry all the parts
3) grease the inside of the container, the mould and flat bottom of the roller with oil - this greatly helped with moving the roller easily and the dough, to make fine shaped sev
4) when rolling down to make sev, held firm on the body of the sevai maker - to avoid pinching or sharp edge.
