That said I am going to set aside my emotions and just focus on the part of the story of Gavin given with this publication of part 1 of the story. I will be honest and say I have no plans to pick up this series again until all of the books are completed.
The story flowed well and the characters were written well. They draw you in and you care about them wanting both Gavin and Genny to have a happy ending to their love story.
Perhaps this is why I am so disappointed at not knowing what happens to them while I am emotionally invested.
It is definitely worth the time to read but if you’re like me please know that the book just ends with no resolution.
I would happily pay up front the price of the three books just to have a complete storyline.
I have waited like everyone else for this book to be published and what a disappointment it was, certainly not worth the wait. Hopefully the next one will be better.
I have never written a bad review for any of Jamie's books and hope to this will be my last.
From the prologue, to the middle when Gavin first saw and heard Ginny's voice, to the end when they finally meet.
The backstory flowed well and didn't shift from past to present and vise versa.
I don't want to give too much away on here, but if you're hesitant to read this. Don't be, Gavin's book was definitely worth the wait.
Now on to the part we as readers hate doing...the wait for book 2! Hopefully it will be here sooner rather than later;)
Side Note: Greer, Can we get more of him in book 2, please!!! As always, his character never fails to bring the laughs and a smile to my face :)
Truths revealed, lives shattered, hearts broken, scenes stolen... This book had it all- minus the heart-stopping romance. (Baby steps for these two in that department, I know, but here's hoping that it's remedied ASAP!)
This first book in the Road to Salvation trilogy played out exactly as it should have; giving us some of Gavin's backstory, giving us some of Ginny's backstory & bringing them together in present time. (It just sucks that they didn't officially meet until the last two pages of the book & that the next book isn't out yet!) It didn't have a huge cliffhanger ending but it was a huge tease since it truly felt like the beginning of their story.
Shrewd, spirited, devoted, caring, resilient... Ginny was flippin' fabulous. Her pickpocket ways, her revenge on Penni, how she got the last laugh where Lisa was concerned, her kick-butt musical talent, her involvement with Bridge, her relationships with the Colemans, Will, Hammer, the Biker B****es, Willa, Lucky... GAH! There is so much to love about this woman!!
Loyal, driven, strong, determined... Gavin was all sorts of incredible. My heart broke into a million pieces upon hearing the amount of abuse he had to suffer through & how many different people inflicted it on him. Him working-it-out instead of screwing-it-out, (Sorry not sorry, Jewell.), the radical change in his appearance, the way he took out Ink (& his desire to take down the remaining baddies), how strongly he felt the soulmate pull... Holy crow, I think this man might break me. Crossing my fingers & toes that he doesn't play runner & push away Ginny over & over again in the next book!
Gods, I already love these two main characters so much as individuals & know I will ADORE them as a couple! That first moment when they laid eyes on one another... Every hair on his body standing on end, the way her voice broke, the reflections in the pool... *le sigh* #TotalSoulmateMaterial
So very cool to discover the truth about certain things, like:
*Who really blackmailed Lisa with that photo in Keeping What's His (Hint: It wasn't Shade.)
*Why Bridge sort of faded away instead of staying a problem for Lucky & Willa (Hint: This person had help from Hammer.)
*How the Biker B****es are the BEST at keeping secrets
*Why Gavin requests to speak with Diamond/Knox
Still, there are things that NEED resolution, like:
*Ginny's relationship with Silas & the Coleman family- A reunion of sorts is in high order for these guys.
*The stalker problem- Is it Carter Dawkins?! Or someone else?
*The Allerton situation- What secret does Ginny know & is Allerton still after her?
*Slate & the remaining baddies- Where are they & how is Gavin going to finish them off when he finds them?
*Are Taylor & the Wests really out of the picture because that seemed way too easy..?
CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on the next book in the trilogy, Reaper's Wrath. I know this one will be all about the revenge but I'm SO READY FOR THE ROMANCE to finally start!
Side Note #1: Greer continues to be the MOST AMAZING CHARACTER in this entire saga. #PetiteSirloinx2
Side Note #2: I still think Raci should be six feet under because of her TRAITOR ways.

Yes, there were some editing issues with spelling in places, but that is not the fault of the author if she uses others to edit. Sometimes when you are carried away with your writing and frantically trying to write down what the voices in your mind are telling you, editing is the last thing you wish to do. Looking above that you can totally feel the passion the author has for these two characters and how desperately she wanted the reader to "feel" everything she did about them. I loved it. As the tales of Treepoint and Queen City progress, more and more detail and back story is woven into her stories which I personally enjoy. Seeing the same situation from different points of view.
I am so glad she decided to make this a trilogy. With the effort she has put into this first book, it is evident that there is no way she could complete the story in just one more. Congratulations Jamie. One of your best, if not THE Best.
It was raw in the worst and best possible way for us to get to know Gavin.
Also, Ginny is spelled different in most of the books which can get a little confusing.
This author bring unique and beautiful characters to her pages. Each and every time bringing readers something new to treasure and love.
Gavin was no different.
Such an amazing, talented writer.
Note: When I purchased this book, I did it thinking the other two were written. As that is what I read. And that they only needed editing and would be released a few months after the other.
It's been too long.
(In all honesty though, I would have caved and read it by now anyway)
For some reason my first review wasnt accepted.
