Kris and Linc are both absolutely lovable and you can almost instantly connect with them as the writer really makes it very easy to do so. Very smooth pacing and the story just flowed which added to the overall feel as Kris and Linc become closer and each battles their own demons.
To sum it up, I didn't hate it, I didn't love it, but, I did like it.
POV ... third person
stand alone or series... first in a series can be read as a stand alone
would I recommend it ... maybe
did it give me a book hangover...no
would I read it again... maybe
With Chris trying to find himself after a big mistake that change his whole and even Linc is trying to find himself after he loss his trust in relationships. It is nice that they can help eachother finding themselves.
I really liked this book. I wasn't sure because I'd never read this author before, but I read a good review so picked it up on a whim. I'm so glad that I did.
Five years ago, Chris made the biggest mistake of his life...driving when drunk. It killed his girlfriend/fiancee, ruined his football career, and alienated almost his entire support system who couldn't forgive him for his stupid mistake...including his own family. He's sleeping on his best friend Michael's couch. Michael was the only person who stood by him, but with a criminal conviction on his record, it's hard to find a job. He's at rock bottom both mentally and with his life when he sees the flyer for becoming a porn star. What does he have to lose?
The thing I really love about this book is not only Chris...he's a great angst-filled hero. But the company he goes to work for is fabulous...owned by a triad of men who are committed to taking care of their models/stars. This quickly becomes a place where Chris is accepted and feels like home to him...something he hasn't had in 5 years. I liked the way that it was all set up and hope that this is truly the way places like CockyBoys are...because looking in from the outside, it seems like they might be. I would imagine that porn could be a really difficult place to work without that camaraderie between the players in it.
And I really loved the way the romance between Chris and Linc developed. They were two of the last to hook up on film. That worked for me. What also worked for me was that Chris didn't suddenly decide...wow, he likes cock. No, the story went into how difficult it was for him to become sexually active with a person who he didn't feel that attraction to...i.e. guys. This is purely a gay-for-you story. In fact, both the heroes consider themselves bisexual by the end. But it's not a wham-bam, I'm gay story. The author handled all of that really beautifully and I applaud her for that.
But just a little warning...the book is really hot, but it remains focused on the romantic interest, not the porn...although it is in the book. It's just not quite as present as I expected especially since the main hero is new to homosexuality...and I will admit, I was a little disappointed with that. I would have liked to have had his first time with a guy on the page, rather than in retrospect. But I understand and respect why the author wrote it the way she did. That's just sex...not the connection that the two heroes have between one another. And when they get together....well, let's just say, my kindle was steaming.
Needless to say, I recommend this one and am looking forward to more in the series. It's a great set-up and I'm so thankful to have found a new author to love.
