Top Customer Reviews
The monitor's HDMI socket is a Micro HDMI Type D.
The monitor's VGA socket is a Micro HDMI Type D.
The monitor's power socket is a USB 2.0 Type Micro-B.
The only problem is that the supplied HDMI and USB cables protrude horizontally from the monitor, as does the VGA adapter cable's connector. This not only takes up additional desk space, more importantly it puts the sockets on the monitors circuit board at risk of damage if the connectors are forced in any direction once plugged in to the monitor, "Down Angle" connectors present less risk.
It was difficult to find the exact "Down Angle" extension cables, but I did they are as follows:
I purchased the following "Down Angle" HDMI Type D and USB 2.0 Type Micro-B extension cables from www dot usbfirewire dot com. The cables were shipped immediately and delivered as promised. To my knowledge this vendor's products are not sold on Amazon.
The cables are top quality, about 5 inches long, worked perfectly, and provide a toward the rear orientation for connecting the monitor's VGA and USB sockets.

2. USB 2.0 Down Angle Micro-B to Micro-B Female Extension Cable, Part number: RR-MCBD-EXT-05GL5 Price: $12.95
3. Down Angle Micro HDMI Extension, Part number: RR-7D-7F-05G, Price: $9.95
The hdmi is great - i simply plugged it in and everything worked. Several of my coworkers have asked about the monitor and they universally love the concept.
The monitor is light and thin enough that it fits easily in my computer bag, and causes no issues at airport security checkpoints.
I would heartily recommend this monitor to anyone who is looking for a good portable secod monitor.
Brightness: It reaches 204 nits (cd/m²) at max, slightly over the 180 nits standard.. It's far from eye-searing, but it's bright enough indoors.
Gamut, gamma, contrast and viewing angle: The gamut when set at 50% saturation (default) is well short of sRGB. At maximum saturation, the green exceeds sRGB while the blue & red fall short. The stock gamma isn't bad. That said, the poor viewing angle of this display makes gamma and contrast unpredictable in practice, as perceptual uniformity goes out the window. This is not a display I'd recommend for any kind of graphics work, and cinema may be frustrating to watch on it.
Glare: It's bad. The surface of the screen is made of hard, glossy plastic. The reflections are very apparent, and have a slight wavy quality.
Latency / Input lag: Nothing to note here. Though I can't measure it, the display does not feel laggy. It's on par with other 60 Hz TN displays as far as I can tell.
Audio: This display receives audio through HDMI. The rear-mounted stereo speakers will hardly be a improvement from your laptop. The display has a 1/8" headphone jack.
OSD, settings, and white point: Fortunately the OSD has RGB sliders. At native (100, 100, 100), the display's white point is a blueish 7220K. I set RGB to 100, 94, 86 respectively to reach a standard 6500K. Contrast and saturation should be maxed.
Video & power: The monitor comes with an HDMI-to-micro-HDMI cable, and also supports VGA input via a VGA-to-micro-HDMI cable (not included). Power is delivered through a micro-USB-to-2×USB cable. Presumably the double USB connectors are for devices that do not deliver enough power through a single port, but I was able to power the GeChic 2501C just fine with a single-port USB charger.
Ergonomics: The hard plastic protective cover flips over to form the stand. Oddly enough the degree of tilt isn't anywhere close to the 45-degree bend of the official product photo. It's instead 15 degrees shy of upright, which is just fine. The display is 15.6" diagonal, but with the bezel it's 18".
Overall: At $200, it's seemingly not a great value compared to the Asus MB169B+ which is a better display in terms of raw image quality, but given that this HDMI monitor avoids the numerous pitfalls of such video-over-USB monitors (high CPU usage, high latency, unstable frame rate, no settings), I'd still recommend it in the absence of superior alternatives as of writing.
