Pros: Cheap, reliable chipset. I had the card over a week now and im very pleased with its performance. I feel its one of the best HTPC cards out there. My system is a mini itx with an i5 processor. My WEI in windows 7 was 5.5 and after installing the Asus card my WEI went to 6.7. But overall performance in watching movies and videos is far superior to most onboard graphics. It does not require a big power supply which most HTPC's don't have. I'm using a 300W PS and I have read where some are using 250W with no problems. It uses about 70 watts idle but maxed out (have not done yet) im thinking maybe 150 watts which will work in most htpc computers. It does have some overclock abilities but have not tried that yet. It has all the hookups and (dvi, hdmi and vga) includes the low profile brackets. It has dual monitor support plus DX11, PhysX and also does 3D media. It will do some games but the settings need to be lowered alot. With dual monitors running I can watch 2 movies at the same time in 1080p with no lag.

Cons: The heatsink is HUGE so 1 star off for that. It will take close to 2 slots up so make sure you have the room for this card. It will get hot without proper ventilation. I had 1 slot in my case and this card butted right up to the case side and caused excessive heat. What I had to do was cut a hole in the case for the video card fan and then use a fan cover over it(looks factory done). So now instead of 56C for idle its down to 29C and under moderate usage it goes to 36C.

For the money and included rebate (at my purchase time)its well worth it. The performance to price ratio is great and you will not go wrong using it in a htpc/media pc or just an upgrade to onboard video. Also go over to NVIDIA's website and download the latest drivers and don't use the ones on the cd. The other programs on the cd can be used but its always good to check Asus website from time to time to see if there are any newer versions.

Another year, ( as of Sept 2012) and another PC. Though getting "long in the tooth" this is still a good value. I bought another to upgrade yet another older PC with pci-e ver 1.0 board (old with a VIA chipset!)and again, install was flawless. I disabled the onboard sound first, then booted Win7-64 bit and installed latest drivers from NVIDIA.com. On reboot, it was connected to a Samsung HDTV through the HDMI connection. Video & sound were flawless. Windows 7 experience index for the video went up to 6.7. This is now used as a HTPC and plays 1080P content perfectly. CPU load also is noticably reduced. From a slow clunky PC to a nice HTPC used 24/7, for just the price of this card makes it all so worthwhile.

I bought this card to upgrade an older HP tower. It had a Asus motherboard (common for HP)with a AMD Athlon X2 CPU and nForce3 NVIDIA chip set using on board graphics. The pci-E slot was first generation and the power supply a meek 300 watt. I installed this card, plenty of room and the heat-sink was sturdy and looks easy to clean in the future. I loaded Win 7 x64 without a hitch, and the new NVIDIA drivers as well. The card supports Direct X 11 and it worked in the 64 bit windows desktop smooth as silk. Playback of MP4 HD videos was flawless, as well as blu-ray. Backwards compatibility with the older pci-E 1.0 is perfect. The owner is not a gamer, but does watch a lot of HD content video, and just wanted a smooth video experience and that is just what this card delivered. The power supply is quite adequate as the card draws a max of 50 watts. I found no significant increase in heat load from the PC using this card vs the on-board graphics. I worked with the DVI-D output, and did test the HDMI (worked perfect) but I did not test or use the VGA analog output. The monitor I used was a 1080p Samsung TV monitor. It has been a month of heavy use so far, and not a single problem. If not for gaming, then this is the card for you.

This is a very good card and very adequate to be used to process TV/DVD signals. I have the previous DDR2 version of this card in another computer and I feel that this is a nice upgrade from that unit but both are very adequate. Windows Experience rates it at 6.6 for both graphics categories and the previous version at 6.4. The new one is replacing a 9400 GT that only rated at 4.6. The difference is noticable as there is no judder, lags or skips in any DVD or sports I have seen on my Samsung 55" LCD.

It's only draw back that keeps it from being a 5 star is the width and a very slight fan noise. The heat sink extends beyond the width of the mounting frame significantly. If your PCI-E slot is on the outside edge of your motherboard this is probably not a problem; such is the case for my other computer. But in this case it is not and the heat sink sits over my only other slot making it unusable. Fortunately I have no need for that slot.

I am not a gamer and would not presume that this unit would do as well as the top end gaming cards but some review put it as a value card for gaming. For my purpose of recording and playing back sports it is great. (I have and will only use this unit in 2D.)

I purchased this to upgrade the graphics capability of my Lenovo M90p Small Form Factor desktop PC. The card is low profile in the sense that it is a half height card and does come with low profile brackets. The heat sink on the card however is almost two slots wide and not ideal if your case is really cramped like in my case. I would NOT recommend this for Small Form Factor cases due to the double wide heat sink. This would be fine in a normal size case or HTPC case with plenty of room near the PCI-Express Slot. The box states a power supply requirement of at least 300w but this is simply not true. The 300w requirement is for systems with a 130w CPU (core i7) and most people are going to be using a 95w CPU (core i5/i3) or less with this. The card I bought to replace this is also a GT430 and is running this card with a core i5-650 on a 240w PSU.
