This is a WELL THOUGHT OUT set of tools and case combination. It is the perfect 1/4" set if it stands up to time. Congratulations to GearWrench for giving attention to quality and detail. "Give the man a cigar!"
The sockets all have a "surface drive" broaching that keeps stresses off of the corners of the nut and applies force to the sides/flanks instead. All of the pieces have a hole in the drive end for pin retaining and also work well on ring retainer impact wrenches. The drive end is deep enough so any retaining ring won't extend past the drive end and become locked onto the wrench anvil.
The deep sockets are broached only about a third of the way into the socket body. This can block a nut from rising into the deep sockets when used in confined spaces, but this is a minor issue. Also, the inside diameter of the deep sockets is rather reduced in diameter to give the socket body strength. If these sockets are used on reduced diameter nuts where the bolt/stud is larger than the size typical for that nut size, there won't be enough clearance for the fastener threaded end in the socket. This is where hand tools would be necessary.
Overall a good set, made in Taiwan, well marked and they fit fasteners quite well. Four latches hold the case shut, in most situations I only open the two metal latches and wonder why the box is sill held closed. So far these sockets have held up to everything I've thrown at them. Recommended.

Nice set at a competitive price. I like the markings on both sides of the socket to help identify it better. Read morePublished on April 8, 2013 by js
