From the manufacturer
GEARWRENCH produced the original five-degree ratcheting wrench in 1996 and quickly became a go-to brand for professional automotive technicians. The innovation didn’t stop there. Year after year, the GEARWRENCH brand continues to expand its line—in ratcheting tools and beyond—to help automotive and industrial technicians get their jobs done faster and easier.
GEARWRENCH Pass-Thru & GearRatchet System
The pass-thru socket and GearRatchet™ ratchet system by GEARWRENCH was designed to improve productivity and access on every job. The GearRatchet™ ratchets need as little as 5° to move fasteners vs. 30° for standard wrenches and are 40% stronger than standard ratchets by eliminating the drive tang. The ratchets are up to 50% thinner than standard ratchets providing superior access to even the most hard-to-reach fasteners.
Pass-Thru Socket System
Pass-Thru ratchet and socket system eliminates the need for deep sockets as they loosen and drive nuts on bolts of any length. The flexible head locks into 11 positions providing greater access to hard-to-reach fasteners.
The Pass-Thru sockets integrate into the GEARWRENCH GearRatchet handle, reducing overall height and increasing torque strength. The GEARWRENCH adapter allows for the use of standard sockets and drive tools.
The Pass-Thru sockets and extensions have a thin wall design allowing for use over a greater size range of bolts and threaded rods.

"Pass through" socket system eliminates the need for deep sockets. The Vortex thin wall socket design has the same torque strength as an ordinary socket. Over all height is reduced by as much as 50-Percent, width by 20-Percent. The unique Gear Ratchet drive configuration increases torque strength by as much as 40-Percent and needs as little as 5º or arc. Chrome vanadium steel. Fully hardened. Features fine tooth 5º ratchet handle.

UPDATE: As expected the "lifetime" warranty is useless. Apex Tool Group says I have to return it where I bought it and Amazon says it's outside the 30-day return window to be able to return it. So if purchased on Amazon, the "lifetime" warranty is 30-days. So now the ratchet set is useless garbage unless I go to the expense of purchasing another ratchet to replace the defective original. Gearwrench has a nice scam going on this one.
UPDATE #2: I was finally able to get through to a helpful person at Apex Tool Group. My defective ratchet was replaced under warranty. You still have to pay to ship the item back to them to evaluate so it can be a hassle. Revising to 3 stars from 1.
The third time I actually needed it for something else but still related the cars. And before I start applying alittle bit of torque to snug the bolt down, the internals literally just disintegrate in front of me and the whole wrench falls apart.
I buy alot of tools off amazon to get the most bang for the buck and I thought gear wrench was high quality. This tool tells me it's the furthest thing from it.
I was able to piece it back together and hold it in to get the job done but I'll never use it again because 1 hour of my time went to trying to get this thing back together and not happen again.
I've never had any issues with the tools i bought from Amazon. I am a weekend wrenching warrior and the tools I buy tools that I have to depend on. Do not depend on this tool.
I went to O'Riley's and picked a thru socket set up and it's worked better
This socket set is much slimmer than your standard socket/ratchet combo. The ratchet head swivels for better positioning. The passthrough feature on the socket allows for studs to pass through the socket so your ratchet sits closer to the fastener. The torque goes into loosening the bolt, not into rounding it off. The sockets are 6-point which helps prevent rounding the bolt head as well. The handle is longer than your standard 3/8 inch ratchet so you can apply more torque to your stuck fastener. If you're worried that this is a specialty item, it comes with an adapter that allows you to attach any 3/8 inch drive socket to the ratchet, albeit without the passthrough system.
Overall, I highly recommend this tool set. I wish I bought it a long time ago.
All this being said,
they ate very nice tools, the fit into tight places like no others will, there is no need to worry if the socket is deep enough, and they have a very short click, less then 5 degree. Also i found that the variable angle adjustment super handy, and i love that it locks into place! They also seem to grip the bolt or nut head tighter then my craftsman set, and i think they would work better on slightly damaged or frozen bolts, with less chance of rounding off the bolt head.
So all in all, i would say they are an amazing supplement to your standard traditional sockets, but they might not be a good choice as a replacement only, you may need to have both in many cases to get the job done properly.

From what I saw of it though before returning it, I wouldn't count on it being something that will last over the long term, especially in an environment where it might be in constant use. Perhaps something more for the hobbyist or occasional user.
