Want to install a handy hook in your shower—without gluing or drilling holes in the wall? The Gecko-Loc Super Suction Double Hook is it! No tools necessary; simply place it on a smooth, flat surface (like the tile on your shower wall), apply pressure, turn clockwise and you’re done! You’ll be amazed at how well this hook sticks using our proven suction cup design. It holds up to 44 POUNDS! Use it for hanging towels, bath brushes, robes & much more. Keep your essentials right at your fingertips while showering.
Although our hook has “super” hold, it can be easily detached and shifted to another location. Since this accessory does not involve damaging the wall in any way, it’s ideal for people who live in apartments or rentals (and easy to take with you when you move).
The Gecko-Loc Super Suction Double Hook looks as great as it performs, made of gleaming, anti-rust stainless steel and chrome-plated ABS. Like many others, I long ago gave up on the dream that a non-plastic suction hook could remain in place for more than 30 seconds (or the time it takes to crush your dreams of an organized bath area) on smooth, porcelain tiles. After buying a new organic, vegan, seaweed-based facial loofah (FYI: I don't recommend that loofah) that came with its own plastic suction hook, I once again felt those age-old stirrings for a more attractive hook. Despite years of suction cup heartbreak, I began trolling Amazon and came across Gecko-Loc's Stainless Steel suction hook. The comments were alarmingly positive, so, despite what I assumed must be a conspiracy of naïve fools, I took a chance and bought it. In all honesty, I think I wanted it to fail so that I could write yet another insightful and biting critique of suction cup technology.
Well, you could have knocked me over with a plastic hook when I installed this substantial, metal hook and it STAYED!! In place!! On a tile!! Pushing aside my initial euphoria, I reminded myself about the evil nature of suction cups, so I watched and waited for that hook to fall (my life priorities are clearly in order). But, after more than a week it STILL hasn't fallen! Just sit with that knowledge for a moment: a heavy duty steel hook held aloft only by a suction cup remains in place on a tile in my house somewhere in America. This is what it feels like to live the dream.
After much soul-searching and many passionate diary entries, I decided to write this review because I am now a believer and a changed woman. In fact, I will be ordering two more hooks after I finish writing this. I'm not sure I actually need two more hooks in that shower, but I'm clearly intoxicated with the knowledge that anything I hang will remain hung. Most of all, I want these hooks to remind me that dreams do come true.
(P.S. I'm posting two pictures that I used in the mass-text that I sent to about 100 people about my suction hook conversion. I now share these victory photos with you.)
I'm not sure if it would work on a textured tile, but this works great on glass. I will say if you have any sort of coating on glass to prevent dirt or water spots it will make things hard to stick. We had that in our last house and couldn't get anything to stick to it.
Finally I cleaned the tile with alcohol, let it dry and had my husband apply pressure while tightening it...sucess!!!!.
Once in awhile I have to tighten it slightly but very infrequently.
Looks great, use it for bath sponges
I see a lot of negative reviews where people are trying to mount these to uneven tile or other surfaces. It CLEARLY states in the product documentation, "DOES NOT WORK ON POROUS SURFACES; if you have natural stone, fiberglass, or textured tile, no suction cup can hold a vacuum and stay up."
