In the analog days(Composite, Svideo, etc), other signals could creep in and cause noise or quality loss in the picture. Better shielded (and sometimes more pricey) cables prevented this noise from creeping in to eliminate this noise. However, with HDTV's and digital signals that move over cables like HDMI and DVI, even the cheapest cable can work as well as the expensive brand.
Digital signals are composed of 1's and 0's, or more simply, an on signal or an off signal. Millions of these 1's and 0's can be sent per second and form your image. Since the signal is either on or off, it is easy to figure out at the other end what the data for the image is, and the receiver at the other end (your television or monitor) reconstructs this signal into a pixel perfect image of what was sent.
Because of this method of using 1's and 0's these lines are not as susceptible to noise, and thanks to error correction that is built in, any noise that does creep in is corrected. Even if noise did somehow creep in, it wouldn't affect the image at the other end.
Digital only fails in levels of high noise, where the error correcting code can't compensate, and when it fails, it fails completely. What does this mean? It means that if you have a picture on your screen and it is working, you have a pretty much perfect image. If there is too much noise, you'll notice that it doesn't work at all or very noticeable blocks appear, and the image jerks and stops before it quits working.Read more ›
I don't see any point in spending more for a Monster cable when this one is available for a lower cost.
I have more than 20 years of experience as an electronics designer and manufactuing engineer. This cable would easily meet my quality standards.
Product was shipped quickly too.
ETA: Was going through my reviews (first time ever) and saw this and figured i'd update it today (9/20/10). I've had these for over 2 years and still not a single problem. Picture is still sharp as ever and never any connection problems. Still cannot believe what the retailers charge for these cables compared to what you can get them for on here. Highly, highly recommend.
This cable also provides for many other uses, as mentioned in the description (such as DVD players, projectors, etc.) - but I only use it for Laptop to TV use. Depending on your computer system and screen resolution, it may take some tinkering to get the image to appear on the TV in the best format for your needs (photo viewing, movie watching, Internet browsing, etc.) If you are new to transferring images from a computer/laptop to another display device, you may want to do a Google search for DVI to HDMI and many helpful resources will come up that can guide you through the connection process.

bad quality, the hdmi part is very weak and after two months it torn apart. not recommended. Also If you are looking to plug it to your computer it does not have audio.Published 5 days ago by Sergio Contreras
Got this to go with a docking station that did not have a DVI port but had a HDMI port. Work as needed.Published 8 days ago by Zach Cross
The quality i get is not as good as the quialiuty I get from hdmi to hdmi which I assume is technically correct. DVI is older than the HDMI standard so Im not upset over that.Published 13 days ago by alexusivan
