I bought the Gemini because I mass produce cards and do a lot of die cutting. I have some arthritis, and it is getting a little harder to crank the old faithful bug.
The unit itself is pretty large, but the plates are also big, so you need extra room to load them into the machine. You need to be sure that you have plenty of room with an electrical outlet to accommodate this gadget . It is also heavy, and not something easily moved around.
My biggest issue with the Gemini is the size of the plates. They are huge. If you are someone who cuts large pieces on a regular basis or if you think that want to die cut a lot of different pieces on one plate, the Gemini might be great for you. After using it for awhile I figured out that pretty much everything that I cut is pretty small (ovals, circles, stamp die sets), and after a certain point I found the big plates unwieldy and a hassle to load for something so tiny. I found myself starting to grab the bug more often than not.
I also found with heavy use, the unit would start to get warm and emit a funny smell, then shutdown altogether. It does start working again after it cools off. I emailed crafters companion about this, but was surprised to not get a response since I have had good luck in reaching them in the past. I should have made more effort to reach them, but didn't because it started to work again after it had a little rest. This thing would be a huge pain to send in for repair.
The Gemini might be the best gadget ever for many people, but mine is gathering a lot of dust, and taking up a lot of valuable space on my work table. I find myself taking some ibuprofen, and cranking the humble bug.
Thanks for listening.
