Mischievous Malamute Series as a sub title seems misleading. It's AJ's story, and the dog's role in this book is minimal.
AJ is not the first protagonist who has a dog or cat as a pet. It adds some humanity to the person, but in no way was Nicoh the main subject of this book.
Considering the sub title, I would have expected his role to be much larger than overfed, spoiled pet. In fact, except for a small part at the end, his role didn't add anything to the book; just page filling.
The writing itself? Hard to say. The book is written From AJ's point of view.
The author seems to be trying for wry humor, but this attempt just falls flat. It's irritating, especially with the remarks between parenthesis.
But I did like the story line, and the way the characters interacted with each other.
The ending of this book should promise at least one sequel. Hopefully with a decent editor.
There were some minor typos/grammar/syntax errors, but not to the point that it detracted from the story.
Arianna never expected a forgotten bag of garbage to lead to death and danger, and a cute detective and when she discovered the battered body of a young woman she has no clue how closely she will become involved in discovering the person who could treat a woman that way or the reason behind the beating and subsequent death.
I am definitely interested in following this series.
Not only was this well-written, there was NO PROFANITY!!! Let this be a lesson to all writers out there ., this is a great example of a REALLY GOOD BOOK without profanity! See, it CAN be done!!
