After reading this book with her she wanted to go and visit a farm and I had to promise to take her one day. This is a good little book to keep a child occupied for a few hours and get their imagination working.
The book is written in British English so you may find a few words used differently than in American English. I figure that's a good thing as it introduces kids to the fact that other countries do and say things differently even within the English language. With the Internet that's something that is important for children to learn.
The reason for the 4 star rating is that I had to give the grammar and punctuation 3 stars. To me this means this is a book better read to children than handed to them to read themselves. Hopefully this book will be redone as it is such a great story. I do look forward to the next books in the series assuming more are written.
My grandson has quite a collection of books and this one is going to be a welcome addition. He loves reading and makes up stories all the time, so I just know this one is going to become one of his favorites. And I have no doubt he'll be wanting his very own farm too!
The story is about Gemma's first day on a new farm which is to be her home. She is nervous about making new friends but is very happy to find that the farm is filled with talking animals who all want to be friends with Gemma.
There's nothing in the story that parents need to be warned about prior to buying this for their children, it's just harmless fun.
My daughter says she'd like to read the sequel. I recommend this book for those with young daughters.
