This convenient kit includes a prewired, 6-circuit, 30-amp transfer switch that can be expanded to 10 circuits, a 30 amp aluminum power inlet box that mounts on the outside of your home to allow for fast cord connection to your generator, a 10-foot cord with male and female ends in NEMA configuration L14-30, and an extra 20 amp plug to accommodate generators up to 5000 watts. Your professional contractor can customize your installation to your needs by reconfiguring the system using standard interchangeable type circuit breakers. Keep food from spoiling, keep the lights on and the water running, stay warm and keep the pipes from freezing, power kitchen circuits to prepare meals, stay informed about the weather with your television or radio, charge cordless/wireless phones and keep your business running by powering home office circuits. All essential components are provided for backup power to your home or business including transfer switch, power inlet box, 10-Foot cord and extra 20 amp plug. The 30 amp indoor transfer switch mounts like a subpanel next to an existing electrical panel, and accommodates 6 to 10 circuits including hardwired appliances like a furnace (gas or oil only), well pump and water heater as well as lights, refrigerator, microwave, television, garage door opener, security system and home office. The transfer switch includes two 15-amp 1-pole breakers, two 20-amp 1-pole breakers, and one 2-pole 20 amp breaker. If your needs change, your installer can easily reconfigure or expand this transfer switch to up to 10 circuits just by adding standard circuit breakers. If your installation is subject to inspection, note that this transfer switch accommodates Arc-Fault and GFCI breakers to meet the latest code requirements. Dual wattmeters on the transfer switch help you balance generator loads to prolong generator life. The raintight power inlet box should be mounted on the outside of your dwelling in a convenient location for generator connection but away from doors and window openings. The 10-Foot 30 amp power cord (10 gauge, 4-wire) includes NEMA L14-30 ends for easy connection from your generator to the power inlet box. If you have a smaller generator (3500 - 5000-Watts), ask your installer to change out the plug on the cord using the 20 amp L14-20 plug provided in the kit. To use the transfer switch when your power goes out, move your generator outdoors, connect the cord from your generator to the power inlet box, turn off all the breakers in the transfer switch, flip ON the generator main in the transfer switch, start your generator, and then turn on individual circuit breakers in the transfer switch. When utility power returns, just turn OFF the generator main and turn ON the Utility main in the transfer switch, shut down your generator, and store the cord. Use this transfer switch for generators equipped with NEMA L14-20 or L14-30 full power receptacles.

Pros: Aluminum outdoor receptacle box; plenty of wire; breaker wires labeled; switch is easy to understand and operate; breakers easily available.
Cons: None, but would like to see a cover available to cover the breakers on the installed box.
Amazon was great keeping me informed on the shipping and tracking (truck was stuck in a snow storm).
The installation went well but requires knowledge of carpentry and electrical circuitry. Also the proper tools are needed. I do recommend this unit for anyone who would like to install a generator transfer switch and run a generator in the 7500 watt continous range.
