Blog postIn my writing career, I’ve gotten only two bad reviews. One said my heroine was too, ‘Mary Jane’ – and today I read where someone complained that my heroines do things that ‘just aren’t done.’ I won’t apologize because my books embody the entire spectrum of human characterizations no matter the time period. And gosh, no one in history EVER stepped out of bounds of societal manners, did they.

Blog postI just had a thought (everybody run! LOL JK!) We have ‘Regency Romance’ but it seems to have its own genre aside from ‘Historicals.’ And I’ll be honest, I’m not quite sure why. So consider this: A ‘Cowboy’ histiorical romance would be different if the book didn’t have ‘Cowboys’ in it, but had ‘Gamblers.’ My book, A Touch of Destiny, is an old west or ‘Western Romance’ but it focuses on a gambler rather than a cowboy. Genre splits happen every so often, no biggie there.8 years ago Read more

Blog postI remember when I exhausted my friend’s huge collection of historical romance novels. The only alternative I had (rather than go without reading) was to write one myself. I was told to write a novel that I, myself, would love to read. So that’s what I did. By the time I had about 4 or 5 titles written – all the way to THE END – I decided to get serious about publishing my creations. Rejections come with the territory. We all know that. Lord Charles Alfred Kendrick, a highly respected barrister, has his secret desires. A virtual innocent, Susanna Courtland, is one of these. Teaching her will take unprecedented cunning.
Susanna Courtland was born to privilege and has requested that her brother, now head of the family, find her a husband from the cream of the crop. However, her plans to remain a fixture in London society could very easily be derailed if her peers find out she enjoys spending Saturdays hiding out in a back room at the library with bluestockings reading books. Life is going quite swimmingly for Susanna, until one day she finds a note from a mysterious man, a note that sends her headlong into a secret, sensual world behind closed doors. She is determined to find and expose the author—like a heroine from one of her Halfpenny Marvels—if it takes the rest of her life.
Lord Charles Alfred Kendrick has been friends with Maxwell Courtland since they were at Eton. He had no idea Max’s younger sister was such a rosebud, and it pleases him to no end that she is a bit of a rebel, as well. To his surprise and great pleasure, Maxwell strikes a contract with Charles to make Susanna his wife. Now to get this darling girl to fall in love with him and enjoy the same bedroom games he does.

Sometimes, parlor games can lead to more than mere flirtation.
Jillian Kelley, a young woman on the brink of the new millennium, has just returned from university in the states. Her new knowledge of the world and its infinite possibilities facilitate a desire to disregard her mother’s old-fashioned Victorian parlor ideas of proper behavior.
As Jillian avidly pursues her girlhood crush—a traditional fellow countryman with wealth and property—a handsome American with whom she’d shared a passionate night comes to call. The insufferable intrusion is annoying to say the least, however his irresistible, seductive ways draw her cravings to the surface like the rise of a tide.
Bradley Townsend accepted with pleasure the bequeathed gift of Miss Kelley’s virtue the very night they met, but the adventurous blue-eyed beauty stole his heart, leaving him holding nothing but a note in the morning. There’s no way in Hell he’s going to let her slip through his fingers—even if he has to hop on a ship, follow her home and seduce her all over again.
Joust of Hearts by Genella DeGrey
The tale of widow Lady Melisande Dupree and Sir Devin Blackburn—a knight who isn’t afraid to risk all, including his heart, to save the damsel.
With her time of mourning long since past, Lady Melisande Dupree remains quite happily ensconced in her stronghold, away from the outside world. Owing to the many narratives of battles and bloodshed by her deceased husband, she has an abhorrence for violence in any form. When she receives a request to share her talents of voice and instrument with friends of the late Sir Marcus, she accepts without considering what may come—and now it is time to pay the price.
Sir Devin Blackburn is cherished as a member of the Bergavny family. At the opening of the games he first sees the golden-haired lady-bard, and is simply enchanted. However, he recognizes her alarm during the mock skirmishes, and it is clear to Devin that if he wants to win her, he will have to proceed with caution about his knighthood. Finally, moments after he tenderly introduces her to his profession, he gets word that his ally’s holdings are being invaded by loyal Yorkist enthusiasts.
Ashamed of herself for the wanton way in which she behaved with the knight, Melisande accepts an extended summons through the Bergavnys from King Henry VII.
Corin Sinclair is nephew to the Queen and is a consummate seducer. He works his magic on Melisande, all the while knowing that if he wins the fair Melisande, he wins her castle too, bringing him one step closer to the throne.

Unmasked by Genella DeGrey
Some will be pursued, most will be caught, and all will be unmasked…
Venice, Italy, 1795—Gwendolyn Rawleigh has done something she should be ashamed of, but is confident that all repercussions will be avoided—if her companions keep the scandal to themselves. After all, she took this holiday not only to elude the infamous marriage mart, but to have a chance at making her own match, too. Her confidence shines brightly, but her lack of experience could send her headlong into the dark sensual autonomy of Carnival.
Ellie Appleton innocently watches Gwennie charm her way around the Venetian ballroom, longing to be as poised and elegant as her best friend. But in the darkness of her room she hungers for the touch of a man’s hands, to feel his lips on hers and to explore the forbidden secrets of her own wicked fantasies.
After finding out that his sister lied about procuring a proper chaperone, Weston Rawleigh, Gwendolyn’s twin brother, is obligated to stand in as escort for his sister and her best friend. Pity that his chances of finding a bit of sport on this trip have been considerably lessened, which is a shame as Venice is famous for its accomplished courtesans and his usual tastes lean toward the sexually experienced. Most unexpectedly, he begins to find Ellie’s artlessness more than intriguing—even though he wrestles with his conscience about it at every turn.
Marcello Verdante’s enemies have chased him out of Florence, threatening that if he attempts to remain in Italy and petition his claim for the Medici fortune, he will be killed. But when Gwendolyn Rawleigh turns his head while he hides out during Carnival, he can’t keep his eyes—or his hands—off of her.

Oasis of Eden by Genella DeGrey
Heiress to the fortune of a world-renowned archeologist, Miss Jaden Poole accidentally defies time and space and stumbles upon the man of her dreams, but must conceal information that could unravel his world.
About to graduate from the University of Chicago with a degree in ancient history, flapper Jaden Poole has come to embrace the racy ‘new breed’ lifestyle. Heiress to the fortune of a prominent archeologist, the thought of following in her father’s footsteps bores her to tears—until she’s given the opportunity to decipher a room full of pre-dynastic Egyptian hieroglyphs. Amid the mystical walls, and with at least a fifth of bathtub gin in her belly, she missteps and suddenly finds herself sitting in the sand outside the dig site in the cool of the night.
Omari—Commander—Elydian Amun’s priority is to control and protect the oasis that supports the city of Anuk-dye, and to keep peace among the people of his camp—even if it means doing the job of a lazy son of a politician and soothing an obstinate, jealous lambish (camp whore). But when a curvy, daring young woman who speaks using strange phrases wanders into his camp, he can think of nothing other than making her his.
Jaden knows that they have no place in each other’s lives—and if she goes all the way with Ely, it will leave a scar on her soul that will last an eternity. After resisting his many passionate demands and experiencing his surprisingly solicitous nature, she decides to give him what he seeks. All too soon it is discovered that not only is Jaden miles from home, but that, through a debacle that is her fault, she may not be able to return.
