What a great book! This was the only book I used to pass the General Exam. I studied for both the Tech and General at the same time. For the Tech, I just studied the questions and filled in a few of the "gaps" in understanding with a few google searches. I used this book and a question study/practice test app on my phone for the General. That was it.
One thing I will say is when I started it and realized that they rearranged the questions in what they said was a more logical order, I thought "big deal" and that it didnt really matter. Getting into the material, I realized that there is real value just in how they organized the questions and laid out the topics. I have to believe a large amount of work went into that reorganization, and it really payed off.
Here is the one thing I will say about the book, and it is not a negative. It is just something to know. I have a bachelors and masters degree in engineering (chemical), so even though I took very little circuits and "electrical stuff" in college, I am not unfamiliar with technical material in general and circuits and electrical principals specifically. If you are not all that technical (e.g. a Volt is that car Chevy makes and resistance is what you get from the kids at dinner), then you will likely want to add at lest one or two other foundational books to this as well. The authors do a great job of explaining a lot of things and the informational sidebars are great. However, the explanations are not always exhaustive or entry level. Again, not a negative, if it was exhaustive the book would be 9000 pages and boring as all get-out. So if you are less technically inclined, get this book AND some basic ones to supplement.

This is way worse than just a typo
I have to say up front why I only give this three stars. On page 166 for question G4E07, it says that the correct answer is C, The vehicle control computer. The book even has a paragraph stating why answer C is correct. This is WRONG! The correct answer is D, All of these choices are correct. My feeling is that if you are going to publish a book that is supposed to help people pass an exam by providing the correct answers to the exam, how can you sell it with incorrect answers? It made me wonder how many other questions could possibly be incorrect as well. This is way worse than just a typo. Had I not studied other books, I may have missed this error.Other that that, this is a pretty good book, which is why I give it three stars. It did help me understand some information that assisted me in passing the General Exam. However, I would not have wanted to use this book alone. You will definitely want to get the ARRL General Class License Manual in addition to this. You may also want to do a Bing/Google search for hamstudy on the internet as well as David Cassler KE0OG on YouTube.This book has a lot of helpful information for ham's that I liked. Although much of it seemed to be referring you back to his web site for you to purchase additional services/materials from him.
