This is a useful tool that doesn't claim great accuracy, but let me add a note of caution. The directions tell you to put in the button cell with positive side down. It won't work that way. The negative electrode must be down. On button cells, the larger profile, wrap-around case is the + terminal. Maybe that's what confused them. EDIT: UPDATE, READ THE REPLIES TO THIS REVIEW.
When you turn the instrument on it reads 0.0° no matter what position the blade is in. It should be zeroed with the pointed end of the blade inside the handle and both parts pressed snugly against a flat surface for reference.

I built an entire roof addition with this thing and i could not have done it without it. Its far superior to a regular bevel square because you dont need to carry a chart around with you to figure out an angle. You can take several angle measurements and record them and go back to the cutting area and re-dial in the angles you recorded and mark them and cut them quickly and easily. Its very visible outside in the sun, just dont leave the screen exposed to the sun for more than 5 min or it will go black and you will have to cool it down before you can read any numbers. Although it is made out of plastic and the metal arm is kind of thing it has not caused me any issue and i have been using it for 5 or so months. I would definitely recommend this digital bevel

1st off, I write reviews based on the description of the product and the cost compared to quality. I felt this T Bevel fit both criteria and I gave it 4 stars accordingly. If you are looking for a 20-something dollar tool that fairly accurately measures angles, this is a great little tool. If you are looking for something that will measure with a .0001% accuracy, come on, it's $20.

For the record, I have better T- Bevels but none digital. I bought this for cutting trim, finding odd angles for framing and woodwork that does not need extreme precision, and checking my math on trig calculations. I calibrated it to my good square and checked it against several other know angles. So far, it's precision has been within what was listed on the box ( which I believe is .4 deg ??). For what it's used for, that is accurate enough for me. I'm sure for the majority of you, that is probably more precise than your saw.

As others have mentioned/ complained about, the body is made out of plastic. In the hand, it does feel cheaply light despite it description stating " Made from impact resistant ABS" ( I know ABS is a light weight plastic, but it just looks like it should weigh more). However, as with any measuring tool, care should be taken anyhow to ensure the tool remains precise so I'm not sure the problem. Would you drop an expensive caliper or square on the ground? no. So shut up and be gentler on your tools.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a relatively cheap tool that measures within 1 deg, this is a great tool. If you're looking for something better, stop looking in the cheap tools.

Whatever you do don't buy this gauge, the quality and accuracy is terrible. The body of the tool looks to be aluminum or steel but is in fact plastic, painted silver. Testing its accuracy i found it to be out by at least 1 degree even after reseting it 3 times. The old adage "You get what you pay for " is very true in this case!

I was a little disappointed in the tool. The main body is made of plastic and wouldn't hold up to hard use. I'm also disapoointed in the zero set feature. There isn't a stop to zero it to. Of course you can set zero at any angle and I can see a use for that. It is not going to be a super accurate protractor. It's a nice idea but there are better tools on the market to measure angles.

This tool works great. It is amazing to me the quality that is in inexpensive digital tools. I've use sliding bevel T squares for years but have often wished I could know the angle I was copying with it so I could possible use a miter saw to cut half the angle. Now I can. This tool seems accurate and duplicates it's results. For the money, it is very adequate for wood working.

For the $$$ it is "maybe" a good value. As mentioned by others, it doesn't have an adjustable zero stop. Setting it with a 90* square is about the only way to calibrate it. There may be some problems with repeatablity, but you just have to keep checking it against a known. Hey it only cost less than $30, what do you expect? It is a useful tool if you just take your time.

This is an addendum to my previous review since I wanted to mention an important issue which may or may not been mentioned others. In summary, this digital angle finder is more versatile than others due to the sliding bar. The issues that I have found, compared to other digital angle finds that I have, are that there is that you seem to have to zero the unit every time by sliding the movable bar back into the main housing and the second, more serious issue is that the tightening screw is very short such that the tightening nut can easily come off. I have lose the screw and nut several times (although finally finding them luckily). Be careful of this! You can replace the screw and nut with a machine screw, thumb nut, and washers, if necessary. Not as elegant but more secure (by using a self securing nut after the thumb screw) and easily replaceable if lost. Since I lost the supplied nut and screw several times, I keep a backup screw and thumb nut. The display not very bright nor back lit. Sometimes I have to use a flashlight to see it. I wish some one would make a unit like t his with an led display instead of an lcd (in spite of the extra power required since the unit is only needed for a few seconds.) Other than these issues, it is a very good unit and smaller than others. General typically makes quality tools so it is surprising that they overlooked the screw issue (although mostly an irritant).
