The arms swing out for supporting a pot or pan, problem is one arm gets stuck and you need to loosen the burner head to swing it into position. The unit is very compact and has a hot flame. For the price it is OK.

Just used this on a recent camping trip, worth the money if you are looking for a very compact hiking stove. Boils water in about a minute at sea level.

(EDIT).....I wanted to update this review to reflect how I feel about this stove now. Initially I wasnt pleased with how the unit functioned but since I have purchased this unit I have fallen in love with it. It isnt very often when you buy a cheaper product that you really find quality this high. It is very small, light and powerful. By far the most important piece of hiking equipment I own.

I want to thank the vendor also for the attention to those minor issues I had before, but like I said I have grown to love this stove!

I was in the market for new equipment for boundary waters canoe area trips and this stove caught my eye. This thing is about the size of a flip cell phone and weighs about the same too inside of it's carry case!

I hooked it up at home the first day I recieved it and was wondering if the arms could hold anything up... I took a pan and of course it stood there just fine, then I took a GIANT pot of chili as a joke and tried to stand it on there.. Lets just say about a gallon of chili in a large pot will boil in about a minute and 30 seconds with this stove if you want it to..

The flame can be varied from a small flame you might need to make sunny side up eggs perfectly, to a blazing inferno that can probably power a hot air balloon (or boil water in the morning asap (about a minute or less at sea level)). This is for people who need coffee before their tempers catch up to them in the morning for sure.

Auto ignition on this thing works perfectly but of course I will be bringing matches just in case. The flame on this thing is pretty much wind proof. I am sure any person with common sense would be sure to find a spot between a few logs or something where you can block the wind or even put tinfoil around the unit to avoid using excess gas, but if you were stuck on top of a mountain and the wind was blowing 40 mph you could still manage to start this thing up and cook something if you had to.

I went on a week long trip and brought 3 gas canisters with 4 oz a piece. I only used 1 can for 2 meals a day and extra coffee once a day on that week but knowing a fire ban might pop up out of no where I brought extra becuase I don't wanna be rockin an illegal fire!

This is a decent little starter stove if you're just getting into backpacking and not looking to spend a ton of money to start out. It will also give you a data point to decide whether you want to use alcohol or multi-fuel for a regular stove type. Mine isn't perfect, but I didn't expect it to be for under $10. The flame is definitely overly strong on one side, and underpowered on the other. Since I'm only using this stove to boil water, this isn't really an issue. The piezo ignitor is somewhat sticky, and takes quite a few sparks to light the stove. Again, for under $10, this is basically a non-issue. (You DO carry other means of starting fire, don't you?) Once again, if you're just getting into backpacking, you're not looking to spend a lot of money and your main goals are to boil water and rehydrate foods, you could do a lot worse than buying this ultralight little stove. Get yourself one and stick it in your bugout bag. You won't regret it.

I usually do not write reviews, but I was so pleasantly surprised with this little bargain that I thought I should. This thing is awesome. I was a little worried about some of the bad things I have read about it, like the valve not working and such, but figured what the heck for 10 bucks ill give it a shot. Man im glad I did. This little stove REALLY kicks out some heat, boiling water in no time. I made several dinners out on the trail that required simmering for up to an hour, like a bagged chili, zatarans rice and beans, country gravy in the morning etc. (my girl wont come unless we eat well which is fine with me lol :). It has performed stupendously. I was also impressed on how well made it feels. I expected cheap flimsy crap. Instead it is pretty solid and well made. The size and weight are not only acceptable but better than I had expected. This little stove worked so well that the other couple that came with us immediately bought themselves one upon our return and theirs work just like mine.

So this is my review of not one but TWO of these things that worked amazingly well, and I would recommend them to you as well. I have not seen any of the defects that some of the other people who gave this a one star did, and if you do end up with a defective one im sorry...but like i said its 10 bucks lol and amazon rocks on returns at least for me. Oh and you DO need the little canisters of gas for this. I get mine at walmart for 4 dollars, not sure how people had hard time finding them. They are at walmart, fredmeyer, big 5, rei and sportsmans warehouse that I've seen. And we usually only go through one canister per 3 days camping, even with the simmering and such which was another great surprise. Was like an energizer. Anyway hope you find this helpful, and that your experience with it is as good as mine. Have fun out there and be safe!
