Complete aquaponic system (includes everything needed to get started growing food with aquaponics except water & fish). Our Genesis 12 standard system is a stand alone 12 square foot grow bed sitting atop a 140 gallon fish tank. Our aquaponics systems utilize a combination of Aquaculture (raising fish) with Hydroponics (growing plants without soil). Includes: Water & Air Pumps, Pre-cut plumbing connections, Insulated fish tank, API freshwater test kit, clay pebbles, EDDHA Iron, Swirl or Radial Filter, Non-GMO Seeds, Bacteria Inoculant, Oyster Shells, Plant Supplement, Detailed Owners Manual, Easy Clean Valve System. Basics of How It Works By Creating a Nitrogen Cycle: Water is shared between a fish tank and grow bed(s). In the fish tank, fish produce waste that is high in ammonia content. Pumps carry this waste to the growing bed(s), where bacteria process it into an extremely rich fertilizer that’s high in nitrogen. The vegetables extract the nitrogen from the water, making the water safe for reintroduction to the fish tank. This cycle repeats over and over, with the fish providing the basic nutrition for bacteria, the bacteria providing nutrition for plants and plants acting as a bio-filter for the fish. Food generally grows significantly faster than more traditional soil based gardening, uses significantly less water, and requires much less work. This system can grow up to 120 pounds of vegetable per year and up to 25 - 30 pounds of fish yield per year. With an aquaponics system, your ability to grow edible plants is limited only by your own desire to do so. The system does most of the labor that would be required of you in an ordinary in-ground growing operation. When done correctly, you should be able to maintain a constantly rotating supply of organic, pesticide-free vegetables that can carry on indefinitely in a properly maintained system. Available in 3 Colors: Desert Tan, Plum, Gray.
