The threads of romance, adventure, and fantasy wove together wonderfully, making it hard to decide which aspect I liked the best. The romance had real moments that grounded the characters, making them relatable even though they were certainly extraordinary in many ways. Action filled the pages, making it a fast-paced page-turner. I mean there was some serious action, fights with fantastical beings and powerful adversaries. The paranormal fantasy aspects were so interesting. I loved the world building and the way it stacked on other threads in the tale.
Another thing that really stood out to me was that even the secondary characters were fleshed out. I felt such a connection with several of the reapers and would love to see more of them future parts. I am excited to see there will be future parts!
I enjoyed this story. Victoria and Kaizer have a really entertaining "come here/go away" dynamic between them that makes for some funny dialog. And the fact that both of them are just sort of bumbling through the challenges that are thrown at them, trying to figure out what's right, and fighting against their own baser impulses is endearing. It just makes them seem more like real people...in spite of their supernatural backgrounds. Also, though this doesn't have any impact on the story, I have to say that I love the cover art for this book. Five stars; I definitely recommend this one.
Stuck at a university in the middle of nowhere, Victoria is a genius with financial issues and a debilitating disease that threatens her future. Not to mention the committed-non-relationship she's in with Kaizer.
As forces gather and the body count mounts, Victoria finds out her destiny is much more than she ever considered.
I really liked Victoria from the get-go. She's smart, independent, and completely relatable. Kaizer... hmmmm. I had a part time hate/love affair with him - a bit like Victoria, but their snappy dialogue made me laugh and keep turning pages.
This is the first book I've read by A.C. Greenlee, but it won't be the last.
If you like PNR/Fantasy - grab this. It's a bargain!
Victoria is just simply amazing and maybe one of my favorites from Greenlee's books. Kaizer is just officially my second husband. No doubt about that, right there. Greenlee has this talent of always capturing the reader and she has done it again. Five stars all around, wonderful book, amazing characters, and awesome author. I'll never not buy a Greenlee book.
