Cons: These cons are little things (in my opinion) and would not deter me from buying this.
- There is no easy way to open this to place the Raspberry Pi. You will need to tear down the set a bit in order to insert the Pi. However, the directions do have you place the Pi in the set midway during assembly. I just chose not to.
- The instruction pictures: Some of the photos are washed out and may be difficult at times to figure out which pieces you need (1x2 or a 2x4) but just give it a little thought and you'll be on to the next step.
- No air flow. If you use this I would recommend using heat sinks. Also, I would NOT recommend using the Pi4 in this because the Pi4 does heat up even when it's idle (at least mine does).
Also note that once the Pi is in the case, you will not have access to the miniSD card unless you remove it from the case. All other ports are accessible.
As I said the Cons are minimal and would not deter me from being this case. The bricks are strong and good quality.
I have to be honest I am severely visually impaired. So my wife had to put this together for me. Lol
but I do know that the instructions were a little bit messed up. Missing certain parts and then when you got to a future part you would find out that the part that was missing was shown in that page. But despite the confusion my wife got through it and got it built. It is absolutely amazing! I am in love with it. It is going to look good in my man cave sitting on the shelf.
The quality of the Legos despite not being actual Legos are just as good as Legos should be. Great quality. The box that the Lego kit came in is also nostalgic. Great artwork but be aware Amazon likes to ship it as is and stick a big sticker on it. So if you're a collector like me you might want to add a note to put it in a box when shipped. Luckily for me I was able to get the sticker off and the box had no damage. But the box is very retro.
When it comes to the pie being installed in the device it is in there good and snug. It does not move around at all. If you do buy this for a pie four you might have to make some modifications. But for the pie three by three b+ it fits like a champ.
And if you're worried about not being able to remove the SD card once the pie is installed well, be aware these are Legos inspire yourself to figure out a solution..
Another cool thing about this is the cartridge and the cartridge slot. The cartridge actually fits in nice and snug. Almost feels as if you're really installing an actual cartridge. This thing has to be the coolest by case I have got to date.
Oh yeah! There is plenty of room for heat sinks or a fan. I am sure you can mod it to have both a heat sink and fan however built the way the instructions imply it's either or. One or the other. But like I said it's Legos inspire yourself. Don't hesitate for this price make sure you purchase this. They even gave a few extra pieces for all the tiny pieces so therefore no mistakes could be made.
One more thing, haha if you're wondering how big this case is in the end. Take three raspberry pies put them to side by side and that is basically the size of the device case. Not too big still mini but not too small.
So in saying this you could easily add an internal SSD hard drive. Just get yourself a nice small mini USB SSD. Just have to change the Lego build a little bit internally but still look the same externally. many cool things to say about this case just stop thinking about it put it in your cart and make the purchase.
