I began studying Japanese language with the orange Genki book, four semesters ago. I find this the best text on the market. I am now entering my 5th semester and ready to take on the green book.
The book is laid out in an easy to follow style beginning with a dialogue, new vocabulary, and grammar points. In the last half of the chapter there are drills that help you with each grammar point. In the back there are kanji drills and other useful language phrases and situational tips. The text is clear and easy to follow. This is a comprehensive language course.
I highly recommend this text.

The purchase of the 2nd textbook was because i previously bought the 1st one for my Japanese class in University and everything worked out fine then. Now i graduated and i wanted to continue to self study (this is important later).I really want to cry because i don't know what to do or who to talk to.I just recieved my package and immediately felt my heart sink. The new book was opened (i am 99% certain) is due to a stock worker cutting the packages with a box cutter. The damage is not just the last page but made it to the 2nd page (the one holding the CD). Thankfully the CD was not damaged from the box cutter.But, the CD is glued inside it's protective slip!!!I tried to carefully remove it and when i started struggling i waited a fews minute b/c i didn't want to get worked up & accidentally scratch or break the CD.But then i noticed the CD is completely glued in the slip. I ripped the slip from the textbook trying to get the CD out at that point.But, ere is no way i can save the CD. It is damaged from the part i did get out from the glue.Without having help from a professor, the CD is something i will be relying on to listen along with as i study.I do not know what to do and I'm hoping i can get a response from giving a bad review. I do not want a refund i just want a new textbook with a CD i can actually use.I will post pictures i have as proof.

Jam packed full of exercises and little illustrations that help to make the book a bit more fun as opposed to a dry academic tex
