The game is played like gin rummy. You have 3 "suits" (colors) of cards with letters on them and you try to arrange your hand into words. The harder the letter is to use, the more points you get for it. You are usually forming 3-4 letter words, so it's not too hard for the kids. You can't throw out "nonsense" stuff (like you can in Scrabble) because you have to give the definition of the word as well. My only complaint is that the cards seem to have an odd finish to them that makes them a little hard to shuffle. This doesn't seem to improve with time, as mine have been shuffled ALOT. But that's pretty trifling, compared to the enjoyment we get from it.
