The Queen gave them strict orders never to return to mess with the time line, but they think they can't get caught. Do they? Well, you have to read the book to find out. I am not giving any clues.
At the Queen Victoria's behest, three teams are invited to an energy exposition of applied technology. Wind power vies against two kinds of combustion engines and two different fuels. From all future indications, if the "wrong" energy power triumphs, the timeline is forever altered. Lady Kiera's team is the one Alice believes must win. Not only that, Grayson and Kiera must solve the technical hurdles using knowledge from their era.
Meanwhile, Edmund's determined to woo Lady Kiera back into his arms. Can this adventurer from the future find and keep a hold of the love of his life? Can they cheat time without forever altering the course of history?
Edmund, Alice and Grayson must travel back in time to repair the damage of their first trip and must prevent the father of Keira to continue to build his inventions. Will they manage to save the world, or combine even more trouble?
Keira is a character strong, stubborn, complicated but her chemistry with Edmund is magical. Try to resist the attraction she feels for him but it is very difficult. She's rightly offended for not having seen for four years neither Edmund nor Grayson. But how to explain that they had lived in a different era? Edmund, and Alice Grayson confirmed as characters likeable, smart and funny.
You can also read this book as a stand alone but for a more comprehensive lecture I advice to read the series in order.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end! It was truly engaging, very well written with great dialogue and a fast pace.
I recommend it to those who love time travel, technology and Victorian England.
This is the third book in The Windsor Series that I read and I have read them out of the order they were released. However, it is possible to read them as stand-alone books, if you pick up the hints the author leaves us.
For starters, I need to confess I’m a sucker for Time Travel stories (HUGE fan of Dr. Who, Back to the Future, Butterfly Effect and everything in between), a history buff, and anything steampunk makes me drool.
That means I’m a kind of expert in the field and that’s why Stephanie Buckhart has become one of my favorite authors. Her writing style is flawless and in this book she has created not only an amazing collective of characters but also a much entertaining story. I mean there’s a bit of everything: romance, time travel, science and science fiction, history, iconic non-fictional characters, all connected by an engaging, fast-paced plot. Most importantly, she has created a believable storyline.
I recommend A Gentleman and a Rogue for any fan of romance novel, of time travel novels, and historical fiction. I also recommend reading the whole series not because it is necessary but because you will not want to get out of this beautifully written world that Stephanie Buckhart has imagined for us.
