Amazing one of the greatest over past fifty years male vocalists on the planet recorded his final solo album at a young 39 years of age, living another 11 years this legendary singing Icon sadly was another legendary musical giant gone too soon. Having left Motown after years as solo artist who clearly had minimal support from his label, David went on to record two sublime collections at Warner Brothers label, yet like fellow label mate Dionne Warwick, Warners gave no promotion or support yet "Gentleman Ruffin" is a stellar soulful collection with a number of radio friendly sounding gems having that hit sound, yet with zero radio exposure this fantastic collection for fans only is thankfully remastered to perfection. David Ruffin remained in peak vocal form to the end making this collection a keeper for those who appreciate one of the greatest ever! Bravo David & RIP sweet prince of soul...

I had already heard half the songs on this. I was not dissapointed when I heard the other half. It's hard to distinguish between a good album and a great album, because you have to consider other artists and records of the same time period, but I think this album is better than what it gets credit for. I think "All I Need" is the best song. There really isn't a bad song on this album. Like "So Soon We Change" LP this is defintely worth the price.

NOW THE ONLY THING I HAVE LEFT TO GET IS DAVID'S MOTOWN SOLO ALBUMS VOLUME 1 AND MY COLLECTION WILL BE ALMOST COMPLETE. IT'S A SHAME THAT THIS ALBUM DIDN'T DO TO WELL ON THE CHARTS, EVERY SONG IS FANTASTIC. 'NUFF SAID.

This CD is the absolute bomb! I wasn't familiar with any of the songs, however, I've always had a "thing" for DR from his Temptation days. I listen to this CD daily.....my ride into work, while Im at work as well as at home. Never tire of it. My fav tracks are I Wanna Be With You; Still In Love w/You; I Got a Thing For You and Can We Make Love One More Time. Guess that's pretty much the entire CD.

This item was new to me in that i didn't that it was around and available so I was very excited to find it. David is excellent here as always with his singing. I was not familliar with any of the songs but there were several good ones on the disc. And as I said David is in excellent form as always. If you like David Ruffin at all you will like the disc, If you love him this is most definitely a must have for your collection. I highly recommend it.

The late great David Ruffin,former lead singer of the Temptations recorded two solo albums on the Warner Bros.label,this being the latter.Originally released in 1980 'Gentleman Ruffin' is a fine piece of work(great to see it put out on CD-but now becoming hard to get hold of).Davids vocals are as good as ever throughout the eight tracks featured(two of which he duets with Laverna Mason,namely 'I Wanna Be With You' and 'Love Supply' and rather good they are too).The music and production is nice and sophisticated-so to sum up,if you're a David Ruffin fan from his Motown days,check this out you won't be disappointed!.
