It fits fine in my 6 quart IP it does "stick" a little to the lid but it's nothing major and doesn't impact the cooking process.
First thing I made in the aluminum pot was an egg quiche and it turned out amazing! No sticking! Highly recommend
The coating is so-so when I got it in person. It's not going do anything ... impressive would be my guess. I suspect if I hadn't returned it this would be my rice/potato insert. However all I had to do was take it out and stare at it for a second before going well, that's not going to work.
I bought mine from the Amazon Warehouse. It was sold as open boxed "Very Good Condition" with minor cosmetic damages and "in the original packaging." This was where I should have passed, and honestly. Anymore I question the Amazon seal of inspection. It came in a bag with the Amazon sticker of inspect, no Instant Pot branded box or packaging. That was in an Amazon shipping box. The box wasn't damaged, plenty of air pillows. This is important to not because had there been damage to the box, I would have thought the damage was done during shipping perhaps.
One side of the pot looks like someone sat some heavy on it (or heck, maybe sat on it /used it as a step stool). The necessary "round" shape of the pot, to go in the Instant Pot was lost. This goes beyond cosmetic damage, which in my mind would be scratches. This makes it completely useless. There is no way to even begin to put it in Instant Pot to use it - a description of "Very Good" does not fit the description at all.
So back it goes. I probably won't reorder, at least not the non-stick version. I'll stick to the stainless steel inserts.... and I
won't order them from the Warehouse.
ADDING a second part to this review on 11/9/2017. I received a second insert from a family member as a gift. They have an 8 quart and got this not realizing it wasn't going to fit. But it gives me a change to "use it" so after a dozen or so uses, Here's the thing? My review only goes up one star to "3" and that's iffy. The coating on the outside with hand washing has started to ding up, and and I have to make sure anyone (read: kids, spouse) who go to stir what's in it, scoop things out use silicone or the right tools because it will scratch the coating.
It has gotten a small dent on the bottom from being dropped in the sink. So it's fragile compared to the original.
The upside that I see would be if you're doing a lot of cream based or "cheese" things? It might make for easier clean up.
For me it's a higher priced, lower quality item. I stick by the original statement of not life changing statement.
