1. The bottle is very thin. Like bottled water it flexes when used.
2. It only has 60% "Ethanol" as printed on the label.
I wanted to know more about the Alcohol / Ethanol content so I googled it and found the Center for Disease Control / CDC recommends 60-95% alcohol and the more the better. G-Joe has the bare minimum! Since that is the most important ingredient that lowers the price but also the effectiveness.
Looking at my Purell bottle it has 70% "Ethyl-Alchol". Quite a bit more. Once I got thru the bullet proof packaging on the G-Joe I tried both G-joe and Purell. You can smell the difference Purell has more alcohol and that is what kills the germs.
I understand trying to save some money and get a deal but I am going back to Purell. With all the diseases going around it is not the time to "cheap out" on killing germs.
BTW: Looking at the information on the CDC website will have you reaching for the best germ killer money can buy. Yikes.
I mean, it's a viscous, clear, gel-like liquid in a plastic bottle capped with a swiveling, pump-action dispenser. Short of conducting some before-and-after microbial analyses to determine if it really "kills 99.99% of most common germs," what else is there to say about it?
I don't suffer from Mysophobia, the pathological fear of contamination and germs, so I've never bothered with hand sanitizers in the past. Oh, I keep my hands as clean as possible at all times, of course, especially in the winter, and I'm careful never to touch my face when I'm in public. But I'm not anal about it, and I just use regular soap and water. It obviously works, because I almost never get colds or the flu.
A dollop of this hand sanitizer in the palm disappears almost instantly when rubbed in, leaving the hands completely dry with no moisture or sticky residue and not even any detectable odor--which is surprising, because the gel itself has a pleasant but fairly strong smell. The ingredients all seem to evaporate immediately, presumably leaving behind the active germicide.
With cold and flu season upon us, and being unavoidably bombarded almost daily by the coughs, sneezes and touches of germ-laden people, I'm adding this Genuine Joe Instant Hand Sanitizer to my clean-up regimen.
