We mostly use paper towels for drying our hands and wiping up spray cleaner from kitchen counters, so I've never been overly-picky about quality. I usually buy whatever is on sale, be it name-brand or store-brand. They've all been basically ok, but these! Gee! Probably the worst I've ever tried. They are impossibly thin, scratchy, and you have to use half the roll just for a simple task. Reminds me of the cheap paper products you find in some office buildings. The price per roll isn't that amazing either, so I'd suggest not purchasing them.

I figured we could use a decent alternative to overpriced bounty and viva rolls, but alas, in this case, you get what you pay for. The towels disintegrated quickly, did not rip cleanly off the roll, and required many more sheets per 'incident' than a typical paper towel. I wouldn't recommend these, but I gave them 1 star back for competitive pricing. It would be interesting to compare quality to price ratio though and see if these really amounted to any material savings over a higher quality roll.

Low end, super bargain brand quality. Tremendously overpriced at $1.00 per roll. Absorbancy, scrubbing durability, tear strength, and every other performance metric is well below average. If you want bargain paper towels, go to your local Big Lots or Dollar Store. You will get 2 or 3 times the towels, with the same or better quality, for this price or less. Not recommended at all.

These might be two-ply but are too thin for most use. Initially I figured these would be good for use in the garage or other mundane tasks but everything about these is sub-standard. For example, even the cardboard tube was thin resulting in a flat pancake roll rather than a nice round donut that would swivel on a holder. Additionally, these leave a trail of dust so use with glass or mirrors is out of the question. Overall, not a good choice.

Genuine Joe is Genuinely Good. From kitchen pick up to bathroom cleanup to spilt food slop up, these 2-ply household roll paper towels are for real cleaning. I think the reviewers who gave this Joe a low grade are accustomed to the cutesy brands that push more for softness and pretty looks than durability.

I'll take the real Joe over fluffy brands anytime. Though the towels are super-duper for general cleaning, I also found them exceptional for deep cleaning woodwork, wiping up paint projects and other heavy cleaning jobs.

This product performs as well as the Scott brand, my all-time favorite paper towel. Plus, Genuine Joe contains 100% recycled content and exceeds EPA guidelines. I plan to order the 30-pack bundle for our household; I can always use some Genuine help in the cleaning department.

Grocery costs have been soaring, so I am always on the lookout for savings; paper towels are one area to achieve penny-pinching.
Brawny is the standard for household cleaning chores, but at a steep cost.

Is Genuine Joe is a go-to substitute? ABSOLUTELY NO!

The quilting gave GJ a nice feel, but the towels were quite thin. Then came the acid tests of absorbency and scrubbing power.
The thin GJ towles had the absorbency of toilet tissue and just about the same scrubbing power. Those towels just fell apart,
shredding to bits.

I will settle for grocery store generics; they are cheaper and much more durable. If I could give a ZERO rating, I would -
Genuine Joe certainly earns it.

I'm a careful shopper in that I want good quality products, but I don't insist on name brands where a generic or store brand will do, particularly on non-consumables. Paper Towels area an area that I'm willing to experiment and take a chance on, more so than my food. I will often buy whatever I can get the best deal on, provided the paper towels are of reasonable quality. To be able to compare what I've been using with my comments on the Genuine Joe Paper Towels, I'll tell you that I mostly buy either a store brand - Wegmans - or Bounty and in recent months, I've been preferring Bounty.

When I received these paper towels, my immediate impression was that the roll was awful small/narrow, but they looked like they had a quilted pattern and I thought maybe I was comparing them to a double roll of Bounty. When I started to use them, I realized why the roll was so narrow - while these are supposedly 2 ply paper towels, they are THIN. The typical store brands aren't quite as thick, quilted or soft as what I consider the gold standard - Bounty - but their performance is good and a frequent alternative, especially when on a special.

My typical use for paper towels is cleaning mirrors and surfaces with a glass cleaner, cleaning a granite tabletop and countertops (with Granite Gold Daily Cleaning, which is a liquid close to water), draining bacon and wiping up minor spills. I don't wet them first, nor do I use them to clean, other than to wipe a surface clean or dry. When put to the test with these normal uses, I found they were not very absorbent and I had to use twice the number of paper towels as I do when using the other brands.
