I'll take the real Joe over fluffy brands anytime. Though the towels are super-duper for general cleaning, I also found them exceptional for deep cleaning woodwork, wiping up paint projects and other heavy cleaning jobs.
This product performs as well as the Scott brand, my all-time favorite paper towel. Plus, Genuine Joe contains 100% recycled content and exceeds EPA guidelines. I plan to order the 30-pack bundle for our household; I can always use some Genuine help in the cleaning department.
Brawny is the standard for household cleaning chores, but at a steep cost.
Is Genuine Joe is a go-to substitute? ABSOLUTELY NO!
The quilting gave GJ a nice feel, but the towels were quite thin. Then came the acid tests of absorbency and scrubbing power.
The thin GJ towles had the absorbency of toilet tissue and just about the same scrubbing power. Those towels just fell apart,
shredding to bits.
I will settle for grocery store generics; they are cheaper and much more durable. If I could give a ZERO rating, I would -
Genuine Joe certainly earns it.
When I received these paper towels, my immediate impression was that the roll was awful small/narrow, but they looked like they had a quilted pattern and I thought maybe I was comparing them to a double roll of Bounty. When I started to use them, I realized why the roll was so narrow - while these are supposedly 2 ply paper towels, they are THIN. The typical store brands aren't quite as thick, quilted or soft as what I consider the gold standard - Bounty - but their performance is good and a frequent alternative, especially when on a special.
My typical use for paper towels is cleaning mirrors and surfaces with a glass cleaner, cleaning a granite tabletop and countertops (with Granite Gold Daily Cleaning, which is a liquid close to water), draining bacon and wiping up minor spills. I don't wet them first, nor do I use them to clean, other than to wipe a surface clean or dry. When put to the test with these normal uses, I found they were not very absorbent and I had to use twice the number of paper towels as I do when using the other brands.Read more ›

Low quality, need to use more to clean up a small job, and the company was cheap enough to offer them on Amazon Vine but provided 1 roll for review. Read morePublished 15 months ago by Vicky
This is probably the worst paper towel I've had the displeasure of trying. In our house we usually use paper towels in the kitchen to dry our hands or clean up spills. Read morePublished 15 months ago by rantboi
I am surprised by the number of one and two star ratings. I didn't find these towels to be at all scratchier or rougher than name brand paper towels. Read morePublished 15 months ago by audrey frances
The Genuine Joe brand paper towels may not have a big guy in plaid on the front, but they are not a bad alternative. Read morePublished 15 months ago by Melaina Lara
These paper towels are not worth your money. I am not super picky about paper towels, and usually buy whatever is the least expensive. Read morePublished 15 months ago by JBebe

I can't imagine what purpose this paper has. I can't believe it's 2-ply. I tested: this is thinner than 1-ply of my brand name 2-ply towels. Read morePublished 15 months ago by Dave Greenbaum
If you need these as a quick grab napkin laying around, they are cheap and useful. In comparison for paper towels, for absorbency and for messy, wet clean ups, I would skip these. Read morePublished 15 months ago by Super Shopper
I don't like to be negative, but save your money if you are considering buying these paper towels. I haven't had one on the roll tear off evenly. Read morePublished 15 months ago by Marilyn Dalrymple
