Review
Incredibly well-referenced... You will quickly realize that this is not ancient history, but pertains to today's America. -- Al DeReu, keepgoing.org, Spring 2003
Massive, often revelatory research. --Kevin Phillips, American Dynasty, January 2004
About the Author
Anton Chaitkin is an historian and investigative reporter. Chaitkin has written hundreds of articles on economic and political history and current affairs. His 1985 book Treason in America: from Aaron Burr to Averell Harriman, documented the takeover of U.S. policy by "blue-bloods" from their family archives.
Like father like son: During the 1930's Chaitkin's father, a New York attorney and Jewish political activist, carried out a legal fight against Wall Street and London financiers propping up the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler in Germany, resulting in the indictment of Prescott Bush, father of U.S. President George Bush (Sr).
He is co-author of George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography, which helped decide the 1992 election against Bush. He has collaborated with Lyndon LaRouche since 1966.

actually behind the ruling government, then this book is worth the reading. Read with an open mind, too.
Tracie
The author, like Russ Baker in his more recent book about the Bush family, stresses how extremely secretive Bush senior has been about his past - which as Tarpley points out is pretty typical for someone with an extensive history as a covert CIA (before he became CIA director in 1975).
Tarpley starts back with grandfather Prescott Bush and his Nazi connections and the initiation of three generations of Bushes into the secretive Skull and Bones society at Yale - a club for elite families that guarantees them a free pass to either Wall Street or high governmental positions. He goes onto describe the extremely secretive and compex CIA front Bush ran called Zapata Offshore - which according to its charter was an oil exploration and drilling company. However for some reason it seems to have been involved with the CIA overthrow of the democratically elected president of Guatemala in 1954 and other covert operations in Central America and Cuba. Zapata also had the misfortunate of having a lot of its SEC and government filings destroyed in a series of fires.
Tarpley also covers Irangate and evidence suggesting Bush himself was running Iran Contra.
There is a final chapter devoted to Bush senior's thyroid illness and the sense of the people around him that this explains a period of years (1988 until 1991 when he underwent treatment - he was president for most of this time) when he suffered from uncontrollable rages and extreme emotional volatility.
By Dr Stuart Jeanne Bramhall, author of THE MOST REVOLUTIONARY ACT: MEMOIR OF AN AMERICAN REFUGEE
Who created the CIA?
Who has been secretly and quietly amassing power and riches in the US throughout its brief history?
Who has been building the End Times Babylon Whore USA Empire?
The "Eastern Establishment" Skull and Bones Boys, Nazis, and the CIA, and they were right over the Hobe Sound bridge on Jupiter Island the whole time...
"The unique, bizarre setup on Jupiter Island began in 1931, following the merger of W.A. Harriman & Co. with the British-American firm Brown Brothers.
The reader will recall Mr. Samuel Pryor, the Merchant of Death. A partner with the Harrimans, Prescott Bush, George Walker and Nazi boss Fritz Thyssen in banking and shipping enterprises, Sam Pryor remained executive committee chairman of Remington Arms. In this period, the Nazi private armies (S.A. and S.S.) were supplied with American arms, most likely by Pryor and his company, as they moved to overthrow the German republic. Such gun-running as an instrument of national policy would later become notorious in the Iran-Contra affair."
"Now, Sam Pryor had had property around Hobe Sound, Florida, for some time. In 1931, Joseph and Permelia Pryor Reed bought the entirety of Jupiter Island.
This is a typically beautiful Atlantic coast barrier island, a half-mile wide and nine miles long. The middle of Jupiter Island lies just off Hobe Sound. The south bridge connects the island with the town of Jupiter, to the north of Palm Beach. It is about 90 minutes by auto from Miami today, a few minutes by helicopter."
The Center of Power is in Washington DC (and Jupiter Island)

The authors sketch a dark picture of an oligarch in the Platonic sense: G. Bush as a scion of a wealthy patrician family, born to reign over the `democratic masses'.
Politically, G. Bush was implicated in the Iran-Contras scandal, the Panama and first Iraq invasions, the replacement of Formosa (Taiwan) by the PR of China (negotiating lucrative deals for his friends). He buried the investigation into the Hinckley (a brother of a friend of one of his sons) shooting of President Reagan.
Economically, he defended his friends in the Pennzoil-Texaco trial about the take-over of Getty Oil. He saved the NCBC (NationsBank) from bankruptcy by `massive favors and graft at the expense of the tax payer'. He relentlessly intervened on behalf of the oil cartels for their ground-tax privileges and oil depletion allowances. His war on drugs was only `rhetorical'.
Ideologically, the authors state that he sided with those propagating population control, eugenics, race science and the `inferiority' of the blacks.
Personally, they stress his mental instability and his `boundless lust for power'.
Original but important is their analysis of the Watergate scandal. For them it is a coup d'état, instrumental in laying the basis for an authoritarian-totalitarian regime, not less than a rearrangement of the dominant institutions of the US government in favor of the intelligence communities.
Nixon was dumped for his inability to manage the collapse of the dollar. However, as W. Engdahl explains in his magisterial book `A century of Wars', the subsequent oil crisis and the colossal oil price hike in 1973 catapulted the dollar and the US financial institutions again at the zenith of wealth power.
This extremely well researched book (no libel suit!) constitutes a major information source and a must read for all those interested in US history.
