While I am a die hard charcoal grill fan, this electric grill surprisingly cooks food well. Burgers and hot dogs come out juicy and flavorful. This past weekend I cooked shrimp and chicken skewers. The chicken came out a little dry, but that's partially my fault. The shrimp had some nice grill marks, but inadvertently were partially baked/steamed since there is no direct fire. The cover was on the whole time during the cooking process which probably lead to the steaming/baking action. There is not vent in the cover which would have been nice to release some of the steam that is produced during cooking. That being said, the shrimp still tasted good.
Cleaning is one thing I do not look forward too with this grill. The surface is nonstick which is a plus but it is still cumbersome to clean since the surface is not detachable like some of the newer George Foreman offerings. What I will do is heat up the grill for about a minute then unplug it, then tilt it into the kitchen sink and brush with scalding hot soapy water.
All in all, it's a good stop gap for people that cannot use gas/charcoal grills in their housing complexes. It'll cook burgers and hot dogs well enough, but true char grilled flavor may be beyond the scope of this machine.
