Top Customer Reviews
First, I will address the cons of this grill to get them out of the way. Now, the title says 2-serving. I am not quite sure about that, unless your servings are very very small. I was only able to fit one chicken breast on there at a time. Granted, maybe my chicken breasts were a little large, and I did pound them out, but there definitely was not room for two on there. Second, I did put a lot of seasoning on my chicken and it did start to “burn” before the recommended 9 minutes was up. For me that is no big deal as I like my chicken that way. Others may was to be careful with that if they do not like crispy chicken. Third, the hot plate on this are not removable so I recommend cleaning them with a wet rag right after use.
Now to the awesome parts! Ummmm, hello convenience! If you are single, or even living with a partner, you can still cook two chicken breasts in less time than it would take to heat up the oven and bake them. Also, if you live in Texas like I do, with it fixing to be summer, you will do whatever you can to keep from turning that dang oven on! I do my meal preps on Sundays and I was able to cook 5 chicken breasts, without heating the house up, which is very nice. I just stick one in, move on to something else, when one is done I take it out and replace it with another. I am really not sure how I lived for so long without one of these. And it takes up such little space, I can leave it out on my counter without making much of a difference.
If you are cooking for a big family or like appliance with all sorts of buttons and lights on it, this product is not for you. If you like simplicity, and are only cooking for one to two people, this would be perfect for you.
I have an old GF grill which I wanted to replace, owing to the aging of the coating. Although I didn't want to trade off the removable plates for fixed plates, I was willing to do so with the new coating. My old grill is the "baby size," and I thought this would be the same.
I was shocked when I opened the box. The grill is tiny. The useable cooking surface measures less than 7" across. I put my hamburger press forms on the grill (two different sets in 2 sizes), and neither size would fit 2 burgers on this grill (which I use all the time on my old GF grill). I cannot imagine the size of the burgers they used to photograph this. It's very misleading.
Also, the grill is very light (good news), but is now made of very flimsy feeling plastic. My old one felt a lot more substantial.
If you want to make sliders, this should do. If you want to make decent sized burgers, think one at a time. It's not for me.
I hope this helps.
**** update 9.30.15 ****
I replaced this unit with: GRP1060B 4 Serving Removeable Plate Grill
Much better. Check out my review for more info,
I also use non-stick foil in it (my granddaughter's idea) so I don't have much to clean up.
HIGHLY, highly recommend!
