My original George Foreman was made of metal and cooked more quickly. It was heavier of course. My original was a 2 servings unit and this one is a five. It weighs half what the original one did. It is plastic. Crumbs tend to fall on the counter where the top and bottom plate meet. So I started putting a plate under the back of the unit which made for an easier clean up. This unit has a starter ready light which is a nice feature. The drip pan does not move around so the liquid dropping clean up is much better. It still cooks great just a bit slower. I will continue to purchase the George Foreman grills because they make eating healthier easier. All in all if this was my first George Foreman and I would not have had a previous unit to compare it too, it would have received a five rating.

I've owned this grill for over a year now and it's a *GREAT* solution to grilling indoors over the winter months. It grills quickly and evenly and I've never had anything under or overcooked. Despite there being no temperature settings (just plugged in = ON and not plugged in = OFF), I've never experienced it over or under-cook anything. Everything always turns out really great. Sometimes, when I'm grilling a really thick cut of meat, I'll slice it in half (butterfly it) just to make sure there are no raw bits in the middle.

I only have two complaints with this unit - one small and one major.

Cleaning this is a PAIN. I have to hang part of it over the sink and scrub it down. Not the biggest deal, but cleaning the lid is even more cumbersome. I've taken to just scrubbing it with soap and water and then using the spray wand on my sink to hose it off. It makes a mess. I have no other way to get it clean though! I truly dread cleaning this grill.

The cord, and the cord wrap are awkward and clumsy. I don't know how it could be improved, but it's just not implemented well.

The very top layer of teflon is wearing off the tops of the bumps on the grill. I've seen that happen before and it does not seem to prevent a problem.

This unit does indeed "tilt" - you just need to fold out the plastic part that the cord wraps around; it functions as the lift/stand and will then allow the grease and fat to slide off into the fat tray.

Other than those two things, I LOVE this grill and it's gotten me through winter and satisfied my grilling needs!

We bought this recently and had two issues. During the first week of use, a metal rod came lose from the hinge and became stuck to my food. When I found the metal, I panicked, thinking a meat processor had packaged metal rods embedded in the meat. Then I found that part of the grill's hinge was missing a part and had became loose on one side. The other issue is that this particular Foreman doesnt have a sufficient elevation gradient or slant to drain liquids and fats. You may risk poaching your meat and losing seasoning if you dont manually drain the plate at least once early in the cooking process.

The good things about the grill are the size and the durability of the no stick coating. The model we purchased before this started losing it's coating on the first use, so hopefully the Foreman ppl are fixing that flaw. I gave this three stars because it seems the brand is wavering but the item still did the job.

EDIT: I found out that I was rather stupid and that there is a hinge on the back of grill to prop the grill up and help drain the liquids. It isn't a huge elevation but significantly better that grilling on a flat surface. Beware that the hinge gets disgustingly greasy. Cheers! Oh, and I still don't think I can raise my rating after the grill broke off and became embedded in my food. The update on that is we have been using this same grill steadily for almost a year and nothing else has broken off!

A little smaller than anticipated when it is suppose to be 5 serving grill. But for just the two of us, became the perfect size. Still 5 serving grill is stretching it, but cooks well and cleans great.

Bought this as a step up since my old Foreman grill only fit a single serving. This is true to the Foreman brand. Cooks great, cleans easy. Dont forget to put the feet up in theback to elevate the machine.

Pros:Always does the trick! I use this thing several times a week. Works as a panini maker as well as a grill. I've even put frozen foods on here and it "bakes" them like you would in an oven. The frozen foods I've tried are pizza rolls and taquitos. The drip tray is very convenient. Cooks quick by using both sides of the device so there is no need for turning.

Cons: I wish there was an easier way to clean this. There was no cleaning utensil given with this device like you might get with others. Takes a bit of creative time to hand wash off all the residue. There is no on/off button (you plug it in and it starts)

Why do you need to read a review about the George Foreman grill? IT'S A FOREMAN. Figure out what size you want and buy it. Period.

I could exist solely with this cooking device and a large survival knife. Nothing more needed. Not even toilet paper.

"5 serving" is the way to go when it comes to foreman sizing. Very comfortably cooked a chicken breast next to a couple thin cut steaks the other night. Delicious.
