Set in Georgetown, DC, a young business school student unwittingly begins a quest that spans over 40 years. Kit McKittrick’s first novel introduces the leading character of entrepreneur, Ian MacAlester. The novel is laced with historical innuendo, spiritual overtones and a glimpse of life found in Georgetown.
Fragments of Ian’s discovery have been found in oral traditions, biblical and Gnostic accounts throughout the ages but its application has been obscured. Ian discovers the secret Jesus shared only with Mary Magdalene and doubting Thomas.

Kit McKittrick is the author of The Georgetown Cypher. His career has specialized in blue ocean business strategies with over twenty entrepreneurial start-ups to his credit. Kit has consulted and worked for some of the most well known companies in the world and currently is the Chairman and CEO of Kingston Systems, a micro cap Green publicly traded company. He is a graduate of Georgetown University. Kit's interest in religious exploration started as a result of being a confirmed Episcopalian attending a Catholic University. 40 years ago non-Catholics had to take courses in comparative cultures replacing the non elective courses taught in Theology. Georgetown University provides a fabulous backdrop for historical and geographical connections with the U.S. Government. In the Georgetown Cypher, Kit poses many questions about the relationship of the University to The U. S. Government and more serious ones about an alternate non religious message by Jesus and his followers. Kit McKittrick is an entrepreneur and Life Cypherist. His career in business has spanned over 35 years, much of it, founding and operating start up companies of one type or another. Kit became very enamored with what W.Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne call in their book of the same name "Blue Ocean Strategy." Many of the companies Kit started fit a "Blue Ocean" profile. Kit's personal definition of a "Blue Ocean Strategy" is developing a business model that has little or no direct competition and requires a new business description either because it is a game changer in an established industry or it is so radical that it qualifies as a new invention in business.

"I have an extensive background in business modeling. The combination of my personal experience, research and this acquired taste for discovering outstanding business models led me to writing "The Georgetown Cypher" which explores the most successful longest running "Blue Ocean" business model in history. I have four daughters and one grand daughter and live in South Florida."

The worst writing I have ever read

I have to admit not reading beyond the first 3 Chapters because I couldn't abide wasting any more of my time. How do I characterize the worst writing I have ever encountered, coupled with abysmal "research" (in quotation marks because I don't think he did any)and a plot right out of a 7th grader's mental processes. I don't even think this had an editor - was that because nobody would touch it or because he didn't bother to hire one? If McKittredge is a 6th grader, I apologize.

I love a good plot, historical fiction, and complex characters, and this did not deliver on any level.

I was looking for an inexpensive read. I found a great read. I can identify with the characters and loved the plot which was convoluted enough to keep my interest. I have to ask, "If the missing manuscripts and books of the early Christian days came to light, how would the Christian dogma change?" Hum.

Disjointed, poorly written, scattered

I've never written a review before but I was amazed at how poorly written this book is. Situations (not even the spiritual ones) are completely improbable. The book transitions wildly and because of this, makes little sense most of the time. Punctuation is poorly done. There are (a few) descriptions of sex that seem gratuitous (there is little of this in the book). Conspiracy theory gone wild and written impulsively. I cannot see that an editor was ever involved in the process. It is frighteningly bad even for 99 cents.

I keep recommending this book. It is a hugely important work, a life changer. It is rich in both revelation and insight. Kit McKittrick has written an extraordinary book - moving, funny, searing and profoundly spiritual. Most importantly,he gives us a practical way to use our bodies and minds - transcending us to the portals of our souls with a much needed map. I was mesmerized and could not put it down.
