Compact design allows a person to pack almost anywhere. 13" blade folds into the handle to create 5" carrying saw. Unique angle is optimal for sawing and requires less effort and pressure. Features: - 13" Triple grind blade - Unique fold-in handle - Push button lock and unlock design - Non-slip rubberized grip Specifications: - Closed Length: 16" - Width: 3" - Weight: 12 oz - Blade Type: Triple grind
Built to go anywhere you go, the Gerber (31-000232) Double Joint Folding Gator Saw fetaures a large, 13-inch blade, yet it remains lightweight and folds into a compact 16-inch package for easy transport. Also offering a unique secondary folding handle, an effective triple-grind blade configuration, and a comfortable nonslip grip, it is an ideal tool for camping, hunting, or working in the field--and you'll probably find some uses for it around the house too.
The Gerber Double Joint Folding Gator Saw's big blade measures 13 inches long and 3 inches wide, and it features a triple-grind configuration that allows the saw to cut on both the push stroke and the pull stroke for more effective performance. When the double-joint saw is open, its blade is deployed at a unique angle to provide optimal sawing--that means quicker, cleaner cuts that require less effort from you and less pressure put on the saw.
Comfortable, Non-Slip Gator Grip
Operator control is an essential part of making accurate cuts, and the Gator features a rubberized, nonslip grip to keep handling precise and comfortable. In addition, the saw's unique fold-in secondary handle works to provide additional grip options, so you can get the leverage you need to complete a broad range of applications.
Push Button Lock for Safety and Easy Deployment
One major feature that sets the Gator apart from other folding tools is Gerber's smart push-button lock design. Making quick cuts is tough if you're worried about the blade closing on your hand, and making straight, accurate cuts is tough if the blade changes position when you put pressure on it. The Gator's dependable lock solves both problems, and it's easy to employ using one hand, so it won't slow you down. The same convenient button allows you to lock or unlock the blade, so it stays open while you work and closed when not in use.
Travel-Friendly 12-Ounce Design
In between jobs, you'll appreciate the fact that the Gator folds down to a length of just 16 inches. And at just 12 ounces it's easy to stow away in your pack or your tool box.

Good materials, good design, has a very good cutting & edge & offset - creates a nice kerf. I used it on hard & soft wood, wet & dry. Got it wet & didn't dry it for a few hours, but no rust observed. Time will tell if it holds an edge with lots of use.
I'm not sure how the other feedback providers rate this as "flimsy". Perhaps they're exerting too much pressure. It's less flimsy than other folding saws I've tried. On this sort of saw, you need to let the weight of the blade do the work on the forward stroke & exert only light pressure on the back stroke. Most of the cutting will occur on the back stroke. If the blade starts to bind in the cut, you need to change the angle of the cut or change the fulcrum balance of the log.
This saw is incredible! I cuts like a bow saw or even better, but it also folds now in a compact safe manner for transport. I used it to cut through fallen trees with thicker diameters than the saw is long (so 14-18" diameter). It cut through them like a champ. It's a hand saw so you do all the work, but with a sharp blade it doesn't take all that long. If hadn't been there cutting through these trees or watching a friend do it, I'd have swore someone would've need a chain saw to cut through and clear the trails.
Best saw I've ever used. I can't actually think of a better handsaw even if you're willing to spend twice the $, so this is a must-buy tool for any camper or mountain/forest ATV trail rider.
The built in sheath is very handy.
If I lose this saw, I will order another immediately.
