If Gerber had settled for making just one version of the Paraframe knife, people might have been content. Because this reputable example of frame lock design caught on admirably among knife lovers...making the Paraframe a mainstay of the industry. But we figured there's no merit in being stingy, so we worked up a total of eight versions. And the people were pleased. There is a simplicity to this knife that relates as much to function as it does to form. It's a breeze to open. The clip point blade configuration is ideal for cutting in close-Quarters. Openness rules the day where the handle is concerned&no.8212;there's more air than metal&no.8212;so it's quite lightweight and quite easy to keep clean. Clip a Paraframe into your pocket and you're fully equipped to take care of business. Your only challenge is figuring out which one...

Gerber reputation has slipped over the past decade or more. Back in the day they were quality and dependable.
I know this is a $8 knife, but it came with a bent blade! Also, another reviewer wrote that he almost cut his finger when digging in his pocket. I checked mine out to see if this could happen. Sure enough, you can actually touch the edge of the blade when the knife is closed. Unreal...
The blade IMO looks great and is made of good material. It is small and light enough for EDC even in the business casual environment. It came with a good edge. If it had not come bent and if it were not possible to cut yourself even when the knife is closed and if my previous foray back into the Gerber knife world was not flawed, I would be keeping this knife. There are many makers that deserve even this small amount of business.I know this is no where near the top of the Gerber knife line, but if my name and reputation were at stake, all knives from $8 small knives to +$$$ knives would be the best they could be. If one cannot take care of the little things, how can one take care of the bigger things?
Will wait another decade before trying Gerber again.
P.S. One reviewer stated that this knife was hard to unlock and close. I could not figure out why until I realized, if you do not have finger nails that are long enough to effectively scratch an itch, you cannot easily unlock the blade to close it! I imagine this applies to many other knives.
The blade is sharp, the serrations are very effective. Sharpening a serrated edge is difficult but not impossible, but for this price I'd just get another one when they get dull.
Never had any issues with the lock blade opening, staying open or closing. Never had any issues with the knife falling apart like another reviewer. It can be taken apart for cleaning and to remove the clip.
I had gone from a small multi-tool type knife to this one and was glad to make the change. When I lost it I looked for a replacement locally and could not find it. If you want a small sturdy, sharp, 50/50 straight-edge serrated knife I'd get this one.
They are extremely portable. So portable that I forgot to remove one from my Osprey backpack when going through airport security. Yep. The look of panic on my face was so genuine when they showed me the knife, they knew it was an honest mistake. To be fair, they had to run my backpack through the metal scanner 3x before pinpointing the cause. The knife was in there from a trip I took to Colorado earlier in the Summer. I quickly apologized and commented it was theirs to keep with no hesitation. That was a bonehead move on my part, but it validated the portability of the product.
I use these all the time for little tasks around the house. They are great to take camping or fishing. There is a pocket clip, but again be careful in that this product is small to the point that sometimes I forget to remove it from my jeans.
Gerber makes good products. Make sure you condition your blade from time to time. I use and enjoy 'Smith's 2-Step Knife Sharpener' to maintain the quality of the blade.
My only two complaints are that the blade is rather hard to fold back in. It has the metal part of the case that flops in to keep the blade in place but it is rather difficult to move.It is almost like it gets wedge behind the blade as opposed to just supporting the blade like other knifes. Also, I do like a serrated edge on the bottom of the blade which this doesn't have.
