I'm an avid knife collector, outdoorsman, and mechanic...so I know and use knives on a daily basis.

This is probably the best knife I've bought in a long time for under $40. It has ups and downs, but is quite unique compared to most survival knives.

1. The blade AND handle are thinner than most survival knives.. this means it's lightweight, concealable, and practical for everyday carry in the outdoors or even swimming. This would not weigh you down like most knives when swimming. I carry it when swimming in weedy waters, so I can cut myself out of weeds if necessary.

2. The handle is made from aluminum, so if it's dropped in a fire or some sort of acid that would ruin most other knives and their rubber handles...this one will be just fine... Yes, I've ruined knife handles by contact with chemicals when at work. This one won't do that.

3. The sheathe is the best part of all...it's super thin, but still has mounts for vertical or horizontal mounting. One thing I hate is a tiny tiny knife, that has a ridiculous/overkill/get-in-the-way sheathe. This isn't one of those. The sheathe is slim, sexy, and practical. A sturdy snap to hold the knife in, and even an elastic part at the top that you can slip over the edge of the handle to prevent it from catching on tree branches, weeds, etc. Trust me this is a MUST feature for silent hunting in woody areas.

4. Lanyard hole in bottom of handle. Always a plus.

5. Full tang blade, and full width tang all the way to the bottom of the handle...this is much harder to find than you might think! Even Ka-Bars don't do this.

6. Tang extends through back of knife, so you can use back of knife as a glass breaker.

This is one of the better Tanto blades in the price range. This knife came hair shaving sharp out of the box and no problems with it whatsoever. The sheath is very high quality, and comes with a leg strap as well. It is a full tang blade with aluminum overlay scales for a handle. The blade is very thick and sturdy and I highly doubt anyone could break this blade under normal or even heavy use. Gerber uses a chinese made stainess steel which is powder coated. My experience with Gerbers and this steel have been ok. They are not the greatest at keeping an edge, but sharpens easily. This knife stands out in the price range because there are not many fixed blade Tantos in the $25-$30 range. Also... I've owned several gerbers over the years and have found that their coating on the blades are very well done, and have yet to have any of my gerber's rust on me. This knife is just a great leader in the price range, and is simple and pretty much indestructible!

Had this knife for one day before it helped me out of a jam, had it in my bug out bag in my truck when I got rear ended and pushed into the back of a semi trailer. My seat belt got jammed so I reached into my bag and pulled out my new knife to cut the belt, didn't even have to saw into the belt just put the blade to the belt and pushed, was like a knife through butter. Used the butt end to break the passenger window out and climbed out.

I was a little concerned about the size after reading the reviews about it being small and uncomfortable to hold. But I think the size is just right for what I use it for. The handle is a little uncomfortable but its not that big of a deal, the blade is very sharp and cuts easily through the safety belt in my chevy. The case it comes in is actually not bad, it is decent plastic, not kydex though, and is put together nicely holds the knife in snug and secure.

all and all I am very pleased with this knife.

This knife was ok, but my favorites are the Gerber prodigy series. I have both the prodigy and prodigy tanto blades. The grip on these are far more comfortable than the warrant's grip. The prodigy grips are a hard, solid smooth rubber feel, where as the warrant's grip is two sided, with part of the metal blade shaft sticking out down the middle. Gerber's quality in thickness is still there, which I like. I use these knives as prying tools on my gear as much as I do "knives". The warrant's handle has a hard plastic feel, which in my experience, tends to get slippery with any type of moisture. Also, the shieth is thinner, and doesn't "click" in like the prodigy series do. BUT, as I began, it's still a great knife for the collection / for the money.

I've bought knives for less money but had doubt the quality . I don't think it's a total waste because it's going in my 16 year olds tackle box . This knife doesn't have a heavy blade and the handle isn't or doesn't seem that sturdy . The serrated part of the blade is like a butter knife with no functionality . Definitely a lightweight use knife .
I actually feel bad writing this review because I have always been a fan of Gerber .

I bought this thing about a month ago and its awesome I do tree work and alot of times that puts me several miles into heavily wooded areas with all sorts of needs as far as this knife is concerned.. it comes amazingly sharp like I've used it every single day to cut vines wood rope plastic and I haven't had to sharpen it yet.. the handle is all metal so if you sweat alot like me it can get a bit slick bull all around the knifes amazing and my only real complaint is the sheath really sucks.. and its a bit big to be practical as a tote around knife other than that its a deal..
