This 900 page book covers a period of less than 100 years of German history. I think it was written for experts who teach German history at the college level. I was mainly interested in learning exactly how average, everyday people lived in Germany during those years of 1770 to 1866...I am hoping to write a book about the everyday lives of my German American ancestors. The book does not concentrate on this everyday life material. But it is rich in statistics that show how agriculture was changing and the German lands at that time.
I found it an effort, but a worthwhile effort to plow through and I took some 60 pages of word-processed notes on all the detailed developments, but many will find this a little too dense and too technical.
