From the Author

I experienced gestational diabetes first hand with both of my pregnancies.  I know how emotional you can be and also how difficult it can be to find time to plan your meals for the day within the restrictions.  I have been a registered dietitian for over 15 years and put this meal plan book together along with recipes to assist you in your healthy pregnancy

As a veteran registered dietitian, my clients are the most valuable resource I have! I work to learn from them and provide them with great information and solutions. So, the books that I write are done with a scientific background, but written for an audience of my clients - so they are easy to put into use. My first few titles were direct results of my research and my business activities but the later titles are direct from questions and requests from client emails. The books you see listed here cover several chronic conditions which are growing concerns for many in the United States and the UK. If you are a looking for a way to start your path to healthy living then find out why my clients return again and again for the next title. Diet and Nutrition for chronic conditions are the focus of my titles and my research. You will find that these titles will turn wasted hours into productive ones. In addition, I have a wonderful family and enjoy my work as CEO of Healthy Diet Menus For You, LLC and Renal Diet Headquarters. Look for our podcast on itunes under Renal Diet HQ, where you can learn more about renal diets and hear interviews with interesting experts.

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage
By Sam McBubby on April 16, 2016
My mom got me this book when I was diagnosed with GD hoping that it would help me control my numbers. The meals in this book are not GD friendly! We are advised to eat between 30-45g of carbohydrates per meal but here you will find recipes for "creamy stovetop macaroni and cheese" (63.5g carbohydrates/serving); "pasta with tomato basil sauce" (62.2g carbohydrates/serving) and "southwest salad" (59 carbohydrates/serving). And that's not including the sides!

Additionally, the book lists starch options such as white bread, saltines, dinner rolls and hamburger/hotdog buns along with encouraging the reader to eat/drink skim/nonfat milk and dairy. Nutritionally, this is a joke!

Don't waste your money on this, your blood sugar numbers will only get worse. Real Food for Gestational Diabetes by Lily Nichols is a much smarter choice.
