Each pose covered in this book has a high quality picture of what the pose should look like, a short but sweet description on how the pose helps your body, and an easy to understand written instruction on how to properly get in to each pose. If you're a true beginner and/or not quite flexible enough yet to stretch in to a pose, don't worry. She includes instructions for the stretches you'll need to do first to comfortably get you to that point.
Even better, she provides all of this information in the best way possible; it's to the point so each pose doesn't feel like it's own novel (each pose on average only has around 3 - 5 short paragraphs), and well written so it doesn't feel like a textbook either.
This makes this a great book for people of all levels. From the intermediate solo yoga chick in the park in need of a good reference book, to the introverted beginner that would just rather not be in a room of sweaty people but don't know where to start (Oh hey, that's me!).
Besides suggesting that yoga is the best way to reach a summer body (which I am not sure I agree with fully since I like to weight lift and swim which are both better for you for weight loss in my opinion), she gives helpful hints about how to eat properly so that way your body gets the most out of what you eat and you do not overeat/under eat. Once I got this book and realized it is full of inspiration and encouragement, I purchased 2 additional books from this author.
This book reminded me to take some time out of my day to focus on me, my well-being physically and mentally, as well as to relieve my stress as it comes. Being in school and constantly over a computer screen for homework and test, it is hard to keep my back from feeling pain. I am happy this book has helped me in relieving the pain and focusing on bettering myself!

I've been starting to use some of these exercises and found this book useful and interesting. I could not say for certain if it helps with overall fitness more than other yoga exercises, but it certainly does work out your muscles. Over time, I can see it definitely improving overall fitness and general health and wellbeing.
I find yoga to be a great way to exercise and build lean muscles in a low - impact environment. It can be difficult to sign up for classes and make time to go (not to mention pay) when you live a busy life, so getting a book like this is a great alternative! I use this ebook on my ipad and have had no problems interpreting and following the exercises. I think the book is written in a very calm and soothing tone, and it is very encouraging for those of us who don't respond well to plain old "suck it up and get it done" types of exercise and encouragement.
The book targets muscle areas (e.g. legs, core, back, etc.) and then describes the positions clearly, with plenty of visual reference as well.
I love having this as a kindle book, because everything is hyperlinked. If I look in the table of contents for a specific section of the book, all I have to do is tap (click) that section in the table of contents to be taken directly to that page. This is particularly helpful since there are no page numbers listed in the table of contents.
In general, I would say that it would be better to go to a class and have an actual instructor standing by to help guide you through your poses, ensure that your posture and stance are correct, and lead you through the exercise without having to stop and flip to the next page. However, as I stated earlier, this can be a very challenging thing to do for people who have a busy schedule - so this book works as a good alternative. Put on a little soft or relaxing music, pick your focus muscle region, and get to work!
I would say that the cover art is not great - I think it could definitely use some improvements in design elements. The interior contents of the book are much better organized and designed.
