If for no other reason, Acid Pauli's Get Lost V is outstanding because of what Martin Gretschman does with The Band That Never Met's beautifully arranged cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire." It is full of sultry loneliness and longing, making it the most haunting track on all of the two disc album. I don't think I've ever heard a better compilation of electronica and groove, especially since it transcends electronica to become music that any one could like, not just fans of the genre.
Mixmag reviewer James Lawrence writes that you can file this under "abstract funk theory" and he's absolutely right. On songs like "What You\\\\\\\'re Doing" and "Bright Eyes, Dirty Hair" you just want to settle into your soul and glide along to the smooth, serene beats. On almost every part, as disjointed in musical style as some of them can be, you feel like you're floating along on a cloud that will never let you down. Gorgeous, upbeat, sad, mellow, sensual...it all combines to become one amazing collection.
