This isn't really a soundtrack album. It's a comedy album featuring segments from the Get Smart TV show, with new framing sequences featuring Don Adams. The idea is that Maxwell Smart is in a tight spot, and he is reminiscing about past situations that might help him out. The framing sequences were written by Buck Henry. Some of the scenes from the TV show don't work as well without the visuals, but for the most part they are still pretty funny. There are three bonus tracks on the CD. Both sides of a rare single released by Barbara Feldon are here. "99" and "Max" are both silly novelty songs, and Miss Feldon sings off key (the songs are also in the opposite order that they appear on the track listing). The final bonus track is the "Get Smart" theme music. Fans of Get Smart should enjoy this CD.

This CD is comprised of short clips from the original series of Get Smart. It's a great cd and should bring back some great memories. It's weak point is the fact that Get Smart was mainly a physical comedy show, but if your memory is good enough then you might be able to fill in the blanks. :>) For More information on Get Smart contact me @ elp086@ibm.net

As has been stated in the other reviews, this is a reissue of a comedy/spoken word LP from the 1960's. If you like that album, then you'll like this CD. The Feldon 45rpm cuts were a nice touch for those who couldn't find a mint copy of that record...BUT be warned! if you think you're getting the actual broadcast version of the theme to Get Smart as a bonus track, you will be VERY disappointed. The version on this CD is from the "Television's greatest hits" collection which is a poor knock-off of the original.
Minus two stars for using that inferior cover of the Irving Szathmary penned theme.

*It must be noted that the original theme does exist on the album but is not a complete version as there is dialogue over most of it.

I bought this CD expecting it to be a collection of the music tracks composed and recorded for the classic TV series. "Get Smart" had great music scoring in addition to great comedy.

It turns out that this is a compilation of dialogue excerpts from the TV series. The comedy of "Get Smart" doesn't work very well without the visuals.

This album was originally released on vinyl in the 1960's, and buying it back then would have made more sense because home video did not yet exist in any format. Today, however, you can buy the entire series on DVD, so why would you want an audio CD containing just a few excerpts?

If there is ever a release of the scoring music from "Get Smart", I would consider that a much more worthwhile purchase. Listening to various movie soundtrack albums has helped me appreciate the great talent and hard work that often goes into TV and movie music scoring; which most of us don't notice on a conscious level when we're watching a movie or TV show.

This CD is a story form where Don Adams is speaking as Agent 86 in a situation where he recalls things that happened on the show. Basically a clip show with out the visuals. If you are a fan of the show you will love this.
