|New from||Used from|
"People can change. In this personal book, you'll discover that you can change if you choose to. Kareem is a generous guide for people who want to make a difference." Seth Godin, Author, Your Turn
"Kareem Taylor is one of the most dynamic and multi-talented young voices and leaders in America today. In this new book we get a timely and moving testimony about resiliency, dedication, hard work, and vision, from a leader we will be hearing from for years to come." Kevin Powell, Author, The Education of Kevin Powell: A Boy's Journey into Manhood
"Kareem Taylor delivers this powerful message of self-efficacy throughout his book. With practical tools, candid insights and a sincere honesty, this is a must read for emerging talent." Katerina Zacharia, Managing Principal, Korn Ferry
"There are millions of authors and experts who share advice. But very rarely does that advice reflect our unique experiences as Creatives of Color. Themes in the book include making room for what matters, picking your battles, focusing on your strengths, and even a practical section entitled 'how to use this book.' All of which lend themselves to an incredible body of work that attacks the mentality behind living below your potential and helps you discover how you can move forward." Melissa Kimble, editor-in-chief, My Creative Connection
"Something all millennials have in common is ambition. But just because we dream big doesn't mean we always have the means or tenacity to back it up. This book will get you there. Get Your Life! It's an intimate and timely guide on personal power." Leeann Chisolm, Blavity

At first the concepts felt a bit jumpy, BUT! I actually enjoyed the colloquial tone of the book a lot. It almost felt like back in the college days when you're just hanging with your like-minded friends and simply bouncing ideas back and forth about your passions as they come to you. Each chapter, each piece of advice, was like a little vitamin for me everyday.
This book is a quick yet meaningful read that would make a great gift. Grab it for sure!
I own A LOT of books that talk about how to become successful, following your dreams, and building your brand. My degree is in PR and my biggest fault is that I'm great at building brands for everyone else. I'm 31, I quit my job when I was 28 but I have always followed a creative path even when I wasn't get paid to do so. I have spent a lot of time reading books like this over the years. The advice is similar but it's nice when someone adds their personal touch. The only thing I would have to disagree with is when he said "there is no magic" just connections. I think that's where the magic lies. There is magic is connecting with the right people at the right time or coming across and following through on an idea that takes you places. There's magic in persistence. I just finished reading "Big Magic" a book by the woman who wrote Eat Pray Love. It's all about the magic of ideas, connections, and how humans connect to their genius. After reading her book and this book back-to-back I'm left with hopefulness and a different way to view my talents (from hers) and motivation and a different way to activate my talents (from his).
From what I can tell, his journey will continue to move upward and onward. Looking forward to his next best big project.
