Our story stars with Matthew who was very much in love Katy Wallace in high school and was ready to ask her to be his wife when after their first night together she leaves Vine Falls and four years have passed and Matthew is not over Katy at all. Was it because of the way she left, so many questions left unanswered or just she would be the only love of his life?
Matthew’s friends Bobby Joe, Lora Lynn, Sadie, Amber, Jensen and Ethan were worried about Matthew when they heard that Katy had very unexpectedly returned to Vine Falls and sporting a large diamond engagement ring.
Why did Katy feel it was necessary to return to Vine Falls and show off this way too big diamond from her engagement to Tipton Van Warner, the third?
Come along to Rumor Creek where memories of the past love are once again brought to the surface, having both Matthew and Katy questioning where their lives have lead them.
I've read quite a few series by this author (cozy mysteries, paranormal mysteries) and really liked them but I have a hard time getting into this series. I've read both of the books and find it has too much angst for me, and maybe it's because the main characters are both young (early 20's), but Matthew repeating how Katy left him and Katy remembering how she left town without letting Matthew know got old pretty fast. It's like a high school romance book. The pace of the book picked up in the last few chapters, once Katy decided not to marry Tipton and set her sights on finally being truthful with Matthew.
